• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've searched and searched and can't find crap anywhere here or online. I'm trying to run a portable xm unit up front but $25-$30 for a din to 3.5mm jack cable that's only a foot long won't cut it. I think one can make this cable very easily and just run one long cable from the back or just from the radio install location to the handlebars. I only found one possible pin configuration here for a communications set up but the thread went nowhere and no one confirmed the pin configurations.

Has anyone been able to identify the pin configuration? Can someone with a voltmeter ohm out the pins to the jack and tell me what pin is for what portion of the jack, or in otherwords the jack has 3 sections seperated by black or some color insulator to the tip.

I think one can make this cable for a couple bucks at most, but surprised no one has done it.

Anyone help a guy out here? Like I said paying so much for a short cable then buying another cable with 1 3.5mm male connector and one female connector to accept a 3.5 male connector just seems stupid.

Thanks.

The "official" DIN pin count is a bit convoluted so considering the cable that came with my 2011 RTS, looking at the DIN end with the index at the top and counting clockwise, pin 4 is the tip, pin 5 is the sleeve, and pin 6 is the ring.

And if you need the corresponding information for the 3.5mm stereo plug, starting at the end the segments are identified as tip, ring, and sleeve. Sounds like you may already know this but I try to assume nothing.

A 3.5 mm extension cable is super cheap, and an easier solution than making up a 3.5 mm to DIN cable. The OEM cable is made to mount your device in the rear trunk. If you want more, you are on your own.

I have a Dephi Roady I've had for years for my XM. I made a set up in the trunk for it. I got one of the cables that goes from the 3.5mm headphone connector to a female connector for the BRP cable and use that now.
