There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Do I really need a Battery Holder, or is it OK not to have one?

I just purchased a used 2022 RT Limited. I removed the battery door to add a battery tender cable and found the battery holder is missing. Do I need one or is it ok not to have one. Thanks.

Even if you don't replace the OEM Battery holder, you really do NEED one!

Battery internals are quite susceptible to damage from vibration; and batteries, their terminals, and the cables connected to them really don't like to be repeatedly moved, not even a tiny bit - all of which WILL happen over time if your battery isn't secured properly. And Spyders are particularly prone to any shortfalls or issues with power, so I'd strongly suggest that you either replace the OEM battery holder ASAP, or you work out some other way of securing the battery firmly in position.

Good Luck! ;)

I agree, the rough roads, potholes, and speed bumps will cause the battery to bounce around if it is not secured down. The Battery will have a shorter life span without the hold down strap.

It is possible someone might have just shoved the battery back in and the OEM battery strap and maybe even the upper plate could be under or behind the battery. It might be worth pulling the battery out and looking.

Whoever was in there was too lazy to go through the steps to hook it back up! Yes, you should hook it back up, not a good thing to have a battery flopping around! If by chance it gets grounded out, you could burn your Spyder down!

Yes, as everyone else has said, you really want that hold down for your battery. Don't get one and sooner or later, you too will agree that it is needed. We would rather not have you come back and tell us what happens when you don't strap down your battery.

Just the fact that everyone (so far) agrees on this subject is evidence enough, believe me! :)

Thanks for all the feedback. The strap is there. Ordered the holder, should be here next week. I bet the original holder is laying on somebodys work bench. Maybe at the local dealer.

You say the battery holder is missing but you did not mention it the rubber strap Latch was still there. There are two parts needed to hold the battery in place from the BRP parts fiche:
Ref No. 8b, Latch, PN 520000528, $6.79.
Ref No. 8c, Battery Holder, PN 710002893, $15.99.

Yes the strap is there

That saves you a few bucks. When you get the battery holder, if you use a mirror to examine the niche where the battery resides you'll see the slots into which you must put the battery holder, and it makes it a lot easier to anchor it in its home.
