I have a 2016 RT-S. If I have an iPhone and a Sena 20, do I need a Bluetooth dongle to communicate with a passenger or listen to music from the iPhone.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Absolutely not!
The only thing the dongle does is allow you to listen to your radio through your bluetooth headset.

Dongle not needed unless you want to listen to AM radio using your headset. The 20S FM radio reception improved for me when I updated to Sena 1.6.1 from 1.6. Prior to that Sena appeared to change stations when I rode under certain power lines.

The dongle has nothing to do with your cell phone. All the dongle does is to allow you to listen to your am/fm radio through your bluetooth headset.

OR if you have an iPod/iPhone hooked up in the trunk.
Basically the Bluetooth dongle is to allow you to hear anything that can come out the speakers in your helmet.
This would be:
Radio FM or AM
BRP XM radio if you have it.
Ipod/iPhone connected to the trunk jack
GPS if the GPS is hooked to the radio
So it's a lot more than just the radio...

We have Sena 10's so I am going to make a leap on the Sena 20's. On the Sena 10's you have to push the button on the unit to communicate to speak with someone after the initial BT is made. When I turn my unit on, it communicates with my phone which I use as a MP3 player as well. While the music is on, I hit the button to communicate with my partner. Once this connection is made I then hold the button on the unit in until I hear 2 beeps. This will send the music I am listening too on my phone to my partner as well. When we want to communicate with one another, 1 push reestablished the speak mode, once our conversation is over a push of the button brings the music back.
From time to time, such as walking away from the bike where the phone is in the back we will have to reestablish the connection to the phone. Simply shutting the units off and reestablishing the connections works good. Takes like 10 Seconds.

This all assumes you have set the initial communication from your headset to the phone, which is also in the manual (Sena that is)

You should have gotten 2 cables for the trunk with your Spyder.
An iPod 32 pin cable that plugs in the trunk socket
and
A 3.5 MM audio cable that plugs in the trunk socket

I have a BRP Bluebook Dongle set I'll sell
It was on the 2014 RT that I bought and had it taken off when I had to have the bike inspected since we don't often wear helmets unless its inclement weather here.
Anyone wants it. I'll sell it for $100 plus whatever USPS cost is for a one size fits all Medium Priority box. Which I believe is about $15 give or take a buck or two. Either way $115 and you've got it.
Plus all the instructions that came in the original box that's with it.
