• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HowTo: DIY: 2020 RT chin light (Technically called the "auxiliary" light)

So... Can Am sells what I call the chin light for $254.99.

There is no currently produced aftermarket light available, and the BRP sold light is little more than a beauty accessory with very limited functionality. So I decided to see what I could do.

I wanted a light that increased the daytime visibility and secondly increased the lighting power for those rare occasions I ride at night.

After looking around I found a 7" light bar on eBay that for less than $20 to my door works perfectly.

This is one example, but being a commonly produced and sold item you can find a variety of sources to choose from.

The light comes with mounting brackets sold with the light, so all you do is just remove the 2 screws holding the plastic trim cover on and reuse those same screws to attach the new light in same place. No cutting or drilling involved. Other than splicing into the wiring harness, since I couldn't find a matching plug to use, you're done. How you chose to cut/splice into the wiring is your choice.

I chose a flood pattern of lighting, but you can choose a spot pattern if so desired. The mounting bracket is movable up and down, so you can chose to illuminate the roadway directly in front of your bike and not blind oncoming vehicles.

It is on all of the time and doesn't cut off when the high beams are on, which is how BRP wired it. There are no errors codes or CANBUS issues so it's virtually plug n' play.

I think it's a nice accessory to have and adds to the daytime visibility and definitely increases the light coverage at night.

How about a night picture of the thing???Cool look, back it up so we can see the whole bike!!!

Oh yes, very neat, I picked a similar light from Amazon, 2 for $23 and change, that light slides perfectly in the slot and holds tight. The light remains on constantly just as designed for BRP light, and great for daylight visability as well.

KX5062-How are you enjoying the 2020? Im working on a 2021 RTL from Imotorsports so maybe soon Ill also have one!!!

Did you splice into the actual wiring harness for the BRP light or did you find some other harness to top into?

For the record, https://instructions.brp.com/conten...T - Auxiliary Light&rel_part_number=219400991 is the installation directions for the BRP light.

Love it. It does have some minor teething problems with the rear panels, but BRP is addressing it. Otherwise, it is a solid improvement over the previous generation Spyder (which I had).

Yes. I spliced into the harness, which is only 2 wires taped together. BRP gives you a ton of extra wire to work with, so it was easy. There are different methods to splice into the wires, so I leave that to whoever wishes to do it. I really don't like splicing into the OEM harnesses, but I couldn't find the exact plug to make it a true plug and play, since all of these types of lights come with bare wires. Positive and negative. Easy peasy.
