Display slow to change from night to day - is this common? Where is the sensor that triggers the change?

Today I rode about 35 miles in the bright sunlight with very little shade and my display did not change from the dark mode to the light mode. Is that a common occurrence? Where is the sensor that triggers the change in the display?

I just have mine set to Dark all the time, I like it better.

I don't know why it automatically shifts, but I did find some information in the Operator's Guide.

Page 49 - Preferences section
Page 50 - Quick Preferences section

Bot the Preferences and Quick Preferences sections have this:

– Adjusting the display brightness and appearance (LIGHT/DARK/AUTO)

There's no other details I found about each choice, but I suspect that "AUTO" means it adjusts automatically between LIGHT and DARK.
If it's not set to AUTO then it probably stays at whatever brightness setting is selected, LIGHT or DARK.

Here is something I found on Google that didn't entirely answer my questions.

Changing the Display Mode

1. On the main display, navigate to the Home screen.
2. Select Settings (the gear icon).
3. Choose Display from the settings menu.
4. Select Mode and then choose your preferred light setting.

If the Display Changes Automatically

1. 1. Check for Software Updates:
   Your display's auto-mode feature might be malfunctioning. Visit your Can-Am dealer to see if there is a firmware update available for your 2023 Spyder, as this could stabilize the display's behavior.

I backed the Spyder out of the garage into the sun and the display didn't change. I noticed the display was dusty, so I wiped it with my finger and within a minute or so, it changed to the daylight setting.

On my 2024 RT-L, the sensor appears to be somewhere that can be affected by opening/closing the glove box. Depending, of course, on where the sun is and whether the open door blocks the sun to the display. So I'm guessing the sensor is near the center lower part of the display. Would probably be fun to go out and play around to find the exact location but can't do that right now.

There IS a firmware update to make the display switching work properly. It is loaded using BUDS2.
