• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

200 Proof Food Grade Ethanol

I'm not sure how they get 200 Proof alcohol. I was taught in chemistry class that ~95% was as pure as one can get ethanol using a standard distillation process.

Ethanol forms with water at normal pressure a binary azeotrope, which contains 95.6 percent ethanol and 4.4 percent water.

Oh well - -

This stuff would make a LOT of sanitizer:

Good luck!

Thanks so much for this info ...... annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd it Only costs $ 90.00 per Gal ....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:..............Mike :ohyea:

heating above the boiling point of ethanol and below that of water in a capped environment with the vapor going thru cooling tubes condenses out the ethanol. LOL home distillation!

" IF " He ( RowdyScamp ) was " serious " .....then why did He end His comment with the " :roflblack: " emoji ????? .......... just sayin ..... and as always " respectful comments are appreciated ......Mike :ohyea:

My apologies.

I should not have used the emoji; it was in reference to my term "food grade sanitizer".

And yes, I still have my bottle of 190 proof, in case of emergency. It is stronger than the 70% isopropyl alcohol that I normally keep on hand.

Aren't you worth it!!! :ohyea:

Most of that is tax - no kidding.

You can get the denatured for a lot less. They have at least 190 Proof.

There are a couple of distilleries I just read about that are helping out the hospitals and such by using their talents to make hand sanitizer for them. If they can do it and the hospitals are accepting it, it must work. I'm sure it's more expensive but it's still readily available. Can't say the same for hand sanitizer and maybe not for 70% rubbing alcohol much longer.

Yes MONK, and a couple of these distilleries are doing it all for free. Probably because they know what they are doing.
