• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Disc lock??

What are you doing if anything about securing the Ryker when out and about? There is no steering lock and the parking brake is just a flip. I was looking into maybe a good quality disc lock. Wanted to see what others are thinking before I decide. Thanks.

Seems it would be a little too big to roll into a trailer to steal like a bike.

Don't see the need to lock a wheel as an issue for a Ryker or Spyder.

You could always get a long padlock and run it through the disc. probably a bunch less money.
Or a bike cable and lock through the rear wheel to the swingarm.

Our 2015 RT-L, I can lock the wheels/steering by turning the bars fully left or right then removing the key. You can't ?

Guess not.
He says "there is no steering lock", hence the question.
And he is talking Ryker, not Spyder.

The problem with Disc Locks: you'll eventually forget to remove it, and end up damaging the Disc... :yikes:
Park it where you can either keep an eye on it, or where you can use a cable lock, and tether it to something solid.

I can see it now.
Spyders and Rykers chained to bike racks and street light poles all over town.
Followed by law suits filed by 9 year-old kids who had their bikes stolen because all the parking spots were taken :hun:

Look by the parking brake lever and you will see a location for a lock as Can Am puts locks on them for different markets. I would think the parts would be available from Can Am.

Think BRP relying too much on that fob, it may be the solution for the DESS. Ive yet to test drive one & learn ALL about them. Disk locks with alarm & a cable should help some but still add the risk of damages if forgotten, Ryker still in infancy only time will tell. Maybe as Lamont gets back up to speed & creativity the simple solution will come to light.

Those fobs have been working for years in their snowmobile lineup...
Without it: those machines will absolutely NOT start.

You are exactly right. it looks like a lock will slide over the parking lever which will effectively not allow it to move. That will lock the rear wheel. Problem soon solved by BRP accessory.

All good & fine for that & not as easily accessible or moveable as the smaller Ryker will be in town

It's looking more and more like good insurance is the answer.

A determined thief or vandal is going to do their stuff...locks or not.

BRP does not list a lock as an accessory. The manual states the parking lever lock is not available on North America models.
The lock actually has a pin that extends into the parking lever to secure it (I had a chance to look closely at the bike before I bought it yesterday). A regional sales rep was there and he could not tell me why the NA models did not have one
