• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Disappointed owner

I ran into a couple at a restaurant this morning who were looking over my Spyder in the parking lot.

The man and his wife introduced themselves as 2014 Spyder RT owners but in the past 18 months they have only driven the Spyder 1,200 miles. They go on short Sunday drives every month or so and were amazed that I am now driving my second Spyder with over 30,000 miles on it.

They were not aware of the SL site.

They related a tale about their son-in-law who liked their Spyder so he recently bought a 2013 RT from a private owner and is finding it unbearably hot to operate, has the gas smell, etc.,etc.

I related the history of the 2013 model and urged them to tell their son-in-law to get it to a dealer for the recall upgrade. They were not aware of the problems and didn't even realize that the engine in the 2013 was different from the 1330 engine in their Spyder. In fact they didn't know too much about Spyders at all. They bought from a Texas dealer who apparently didn't give them much after the sale information.

I guess there are buyers out there who don't do any research but maybe my directing them here will help out a bit.

Sad...!!

with all the multi media info available they did not look around. If they did not let brp know of the change of owner the previous one got the recall and did not pass it on. Still can get it right and get the machine working as it should...

That's very sad actually that this person has not been informed of the fixes that are available to him. I blame BRP for not informing him, but he also has to assume culpability for not researching and discovering that there was a solution available. Hopefully he will take it in and get it resolved.

To the OP, I'm glad you were able to get them on the right track :firstplace:

Not enough research for sure. Top that off with the private party dumping the 2013. I am guessing the new owner paid a higher price that most would for the 13 also.

BRP would eventually have caught up providing he registered with them as the new owner.

If he brought it into a dealer for any service--the fix information should also have caught up there.

IMO: due diligence was not done.

I have run into 3-4 spyder Ryders, who knew very little about the spyder or sl, so I told then about it and hope they followed up on it.

I did absolutely no research when I bought my first :f_spider:
Of course that was a year before they even had any for sale
I put down my deposit and waited till they finally had demo rides

when I was young I did the same thing with a new sports car that was coming out

Had to have the first one on the block
