Disapointment With BRP Owners Event

Thx..i had a few things missing from my registration packet, the sleeve for the ID was one of them, didn't get the museum ticket either. Didn't know about the gas card so i didn't ask for it when i went back. Trip cost me about a grand so 30 bucks is no big deal in the scheme of things. Just wish i knew about it.

Anytime an opinion is given, there will be opposing viewpoints. Just a fact of life.

between arntufun's videos and the diy board most of it is covered. somebody with an RT and a video camera should do some videos on body removal and anything else that is different from the ''s'' platform.

I also find RT owner's lacking (at best) giving back to the site with technical info. If it wasn't for Lamont and a few others the RT DIY would not excist. I could understand back in 2010 or 2011, but Geez it's 2013 for Petes sake......... This should have been done by now. I'm not sure if some people feel entitled or whats going on ??????

At first, I thought maybe RT owners were at they age where they couldn't figure out technology of a Camera and YouTube, but thats not the case. They have Bluetooth this and that, with Iphones, and helmet pairing headsets, so I know they are capable.

I just don't see any reason for RT owners to take, ,take, take knowledge and never give back with step by steps with pics or better yet a Video . Do you think it's fair Scotty (Nancystoy) has to answer the same stuff over and over again ?????? Help those guy's out and pick up a camera !!!!!! My DIY vids have thousands of views and I'm ok with only a handful of "thank you's" because I'm giving back what what I have learned here.

Please pick up a camera and make Vids of everything from setting the clock to operating the controls. We will all be better off and hear alot less complaints on the forum. Some people need a visual, and don't grasp things to well by reading it off a paper. I know....... I'm sort of one of them.

This is one reason why I can't see myself switching models (even under Holly's pressure). I just can't fathum trying to re-learn a whole different model Spyder. They are quite different in alot of aspects and I'm just getting to know mine in and out .

In conclusion, a village (Spyderlover's community) can make new owners of a RT lives alot easier, and that's what we all should be here for. :thumbup:

I,m Very at home with the GS/RS and the RT is not much different ONCE you take the Tupperware off a few times?

Many, if not most of us RT owners came from the GS/RS world where we had to add plenty of aftermarket items. I used to tear mine down as much as I rode it.

Not the case with the RT as it frankly doesn't need much done to it!

I think that is a major reason you don't see as much for the RT out here.

The reason your seeing a 10-1 ratio is, the RT shop talk was created in 2009 and RS shop talk was created only 9 months ago in 2012..........


Although, I was going to use this post to say of course there are more threads (problems/questions) in RT shop talk, because there are not many solutions in the DIY section....... but, that would not be fair to say. :thumbup:

Just a couple of examples......the frunk spring, Honda gaskets, and emergency trunk release were all created and posted in detail by RS owners. I would like to see more of that kind of stuff posted for the RT so when it comes time for me to switch models I will feel more comfortable with the transition.

If I feel this way owning a Spyder already, I can't imagine what first time owners of a Spyder have to go through to learn how to wrench them. Thats all I'm sayin and again, I'm not trying to hurt anyones feelings by posting what I did. It's well known many dealers throw the owners the keys and say "here ya go", Those owners need a place to go and I feel this is the best place for any Spyder owner to turn for help. :thumbup:

Maybe Firefly is correct when he says that there is not much to be done with a RT, he might have a valid point. I don't know because I don't own one, but it sure seems there is alot to them. :dontknow:

Thanks, but I have one already for my RS. I then turned around and and took it a step further and made some videos to give a visual to the manual to make it easier for others to learn. Maybe a few RT owners can do the same, that was a good portion of the point of my post. :thumbup:


I will stop commenting on this now because it's taking away from the OP thread, but the only reason I said anything in the first place is...... I feel it's not BRP's job to teach us how to wrench, It's our job to teach others how too. "Being part of a great website comes with great responsibility". (Spyderman the movie semi stolen quote).

Owners Event ...I understand DR Bucks comment and the point he was making

However, improving the OE experience is a great idea. Recommendations should be considered and good honest feedback is only another opinion. Maybe we could have a poll at an appropriate time and make an organized attempt at some recommendations. That being said it is kind of like telling your hosts for a nice weekend what you want the itinerary to be.

My thoughts...
first class event, great food, great location, great riding and great people.

BRP did an awesome job.

The Lamonster Barbeque was also awesome. Great destination, beautiful location, awesome barbeque. It was fun and Luci and I both enjoyed meeting new friends. Well done Lamonster, Chris and family! Thanks! There are a lot of people who own Spyders because of Spyderlovers.

After thirty years in business, I have never seen a company (BRP) get the kind of benefit they receive from a Spyderlover who coined the term. Lamont, thanks for the many hours of education and enjoyment you have given me. My dew rag :doorag: is off to you.

It seems with the wealth of technical data and expertise here that it is a bit silly to chastise every member here who has an RT because they haven't posted unspecified information on some unspecified topic because someone might want to see it someday.

BTW.... I did not mean to chastise all RT owners. I'm sorry if it made you or anyone else feel that way. It was ment to be more along the lines of calling the ones out who have the ability to give back and don't.

How and when a rider can pull codes. By model.

The sub category of codes. P-C-U-B, what they pertain to.

Just how bad is it. (the code)

When it's throwing everything at you but the kitchen sink - the cause could be common to one thing.

What can I try.

When should I throw in the towel and know I'm destined for a trip to a dealer. Etc.

I'm sure there's more, and more to it. But, it could be started with what seems to be the most common codes and causes, along with tips on how to discern just how critical the code is.

Again, just and idea. But, if properly titled for search purposes it may well help a lot of folks.

I'll tell you to sell your RT after you have removed all the panels and given a step by step on video. I also want all screws labeled and I also want to know how many swear words were used; and if you can, tell me what they were. Okay, get to it.
