Happy Friday Team,

Wondering if anyone knows what the skin of the stock exhaust can of the Spyder is made of?

Mine has gotten scratched up (getting too close with my wheelchair I guess), I have it off and was about to clean and prep for a coating of hi temp flat black......got looking closer and thought different.

Paint to stainless or chrome is not an easy stick.

Guidance or knowledge shared on this topic, would be appreciated. Thx

I had a couple areas on my stock muffler where the paint had come off. It wasn't due to anything I did. The dealer replaced it under warranty. So, if you're not sure that you scratched it, check with your dealer for a possible warranty coverage.

By the way the new muffler appeared to have a different finish than the stock one.

I had the finish on my stock muffler flaking off. I removed the muffler and bracket, sanded it all down to bare metal and then painted it with a DEI high temp paint that was stated as being good for manifolds. It's been holding up well for me in over 6 months of riding.

Hey Team,

Thx for the info and good advice.

I have taken my exhaust essembly to a powder coating shop, for investigation. They will be able to tell me in detail, what caused the flaking....but I have straches from my wheelchair as well, so warranty will likely not happen.

Going to my dealer yesterday for a visit and a look at a left over Ski-Doo 600 GSX, I did notice the can on their newly delivered Spyder, did have a different finish.....shinnier than my original can.

Later next week, I will see what my muffler looks like, naked. And decide the best route for my needs...recoat or polish.

Chat later Team.
