There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Digital Fuel Guage

Since we know the analog gauges don't work, I seem to have lost the digital gauges on My RT Limited, I am sure it has to do with the settings, can one of you help me find them again?

thanks

John,
Do you still have the fuel gauge laying around gathering dust? Mine does quite a dance... :gaah:

Well no, it is carefully placed in a secure dust free spot in the Spyder Box on the shelf next to the Giant Box which is next to the GL1800 box.

Digital Gauge

When the black Can Am screen changes over to the actual gauge, the digital fuel bar gauge shows up for just about a 1/4 second. It is accurate as I have checked.

Is there a way to have this digital gauge activated with BUDS to work in conjunction with the analog fuel gauge? I'd rather have that as the bar gauge is more like a snowmobile and "possibly" more accurate. Not a big deal but I prefer the digital.

I have tried including shunting the signal with diodes and even tried an opto-isolator (which just did not work at all). No go... The digital panel is just to sensitive to picking up that the analog gauges are hooked up. I know with more work I might get it (it maybe more than just the gauge signal the cluster is picking up on) but honestly... I have now replaced mine with "useful" gauges.

Not sure why but my analog fuel gauge seems to work fine. The dash light comes on about half way between 1/8 tank and empty. It came on this morning on the way to work. Drove another 8 miles and stopped to fill up. The needle was just above E and it took 5.25 gallons to fill up. Mileage was not great at 25.2 but I have a heavy right hand. But the gauge seems to work fine, as well as the one in any of our other vehicles.

Fuel gauge

Just picking up on this thread, sorry but I'm a newby, just bought a 2010 rt prem, and my fuel gauge is bouncing all over the place, so just to recap, are we saying that this is a common fault? and that the fuel gauge is linked to the temp dial and by disconnecting the fuel gauge you effect the temp gauge? Now I live in the UK and no way can I put as much fuel into my RT as some of you are talking about,,,,,, so how many litres are in a USA gallon?

Great forum by the way people!!!!

thanks Jim-----Cambello

Fuel gauge

This may help in understanding what I think is the issue here. As always Youtube can give you some pointers, I've also seen another clip that demonstrates how much magnetic influence can be generated when cables are either not sufficiently insulated or protected against magnetic external forces. In this clip the gent explains that multiple returns to(Neutral or negative)- is bad for any system and thats what I seem to be reading from your posts is what we have got here. The solution maybe to screen the lot!!!

Welcome to the best Spyder forum on the planet!

Yes, there has been talk of bouncy fuel gauges on SpyderLovers, seems you either have a jittery one or you don't, luck of the draw. The one on my RT reads steady.

I don't think the fuel gauge and temp gauge are directly connected to each other but they both feed into the 'puter which is responsible for the digital display and it appears to react to the disconnect of one analogue gauge by disconnecting the other as well, (at least that's my take on what has been said in this thread).

A US gallon is 3.785 litres. When my low fuel warning light comes on it takes about 16 litres to fill up, (4.25 US gallons). With a stated tank capacity of 25 litres it gives me about 9 litres 'reserve' to find a pump, (gas station), which is OK.

Hey thanks for the welcome. Ok so 25 ltrs is the max great!! Ill have to look into the jumping round side as mine does just that ....so can we not get the computer to show the correct level permanently? :dontknow:

No, the analog gauges just do not have the accuracy of the digital ones. Both are present on the Spyder but the digital ones can only be accessed by killing the electrical feed to the analog gauges. Once you do that you end up with two 'dead' pods in front of you. Most of us fill those pods with other gauges.

The rest of us fill the holes with things like a Dual USB charger or a 12v accessory socket.

Or:
Warp-Speed Indicator
(Alternately: Mach-Speed will work too!)
Altimeters
Flux capacitor charging condition
Digital readouts of bank account balances (Useful before calling the dealer!)
:D

:welcome: to the party Cambello. They have you covered on the digital guage information. After two replacements for wobbly gauges, I decided to go digital on both :spyder2:'s.

More accurate IMO.
