• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well, after much cussin' and discussin' we have come to a hard decision. We will have to cancel our trip to the owners event this year. Our poor guvment has decided they need a lot more of our hard earned money this year. Much more than we counted on. There have been some other expenses come up but the taxes really put the squeeze on the checkbook. Especially since I just retired this year. We are dissapointed because we were looking forward to this trip and the fellowship at the BBQ. We decided that since we already put more into the Spyderfest trip, and we have not had the opportunity to attend Spyderfest in the past, that the owners event would be the logical choice to cancel.

I will hold my comments on my feelings towards our lawmakers as I don't want this to become a political post. Nuff said. Looking forward to Spyderfest.

For anyone interested, there will be a room opening up at the Comfort Inn in Maggie Valley and the Quality Inn in Greeneville TN.

Spyderfest

Unfortunate decision to have to make. You won't be the only one I'll bet! :banghead:

While Bike Week Daytona Beach was a big event and well attended. It to was not a capacity crowd. Most cycle dealers I have chatted with since all have made the same comment "It was just, OK"

Which tells me the economy still is in the dumpster despite what the giver mint dudes sez!:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Just to add to Bruiser's post, if you're interested in either of these rooms, make sure to ask for the Spyder Owner's event rate at the Comfort Inn in Maggie Valley. There is also a discounted rate for the Quality Inn in Greeneville, TN.

Very disappointed, but something we had to do.

Have to agree..!!

let's not let it go over the top..sorry to hear of your tough choice. Have heard some already out of spyderfest as well. Most have to deal with taxes before they leave and are running into the same problem..wish all the best of luck and hope they make it. Those of us that can't expect many pic's and videos...!!

I want to be clear in that I am not going to throw stones. I agree with Bob in that this is where we choose to live. I just don't like the way our economy is doing or the way our tax dollars are being used. However, as good citizens, we did send our checks in. Grudgingly mind you.

Sorry to hear you won't make it to the Owners event. I do know how that goes as I can't do Spyderfest for the same tax reasons. Seems since retiring 9 years ago it gets worse every year even though advance planing for retirement it seems taxes keep rising along with every day expenses. I will make it to Maggie Valley "Good Lord willing and the creek don't Rise".

Political post have been removed. :banghead:

Sorry you can't make it but I understand and I think you'll have a great time at Spyderfest for sure. :doorag:

Taxes!!

Taxes SUCK!!! Let me give you an example we can all relate to..This year I will issue a check to the dear IRS that would buy me a new RT LTD with all the bells and whistles. State taxes would equal a RT-622 +... That's Just Not Right. All a week before Spyderfest! I hope I can still make it!!

Sorry to hear that...I'm in a similar situation...I've been trying to make it to Spyderfest for the past 3 years but every year something has come up that prevented me from doing so...primarily heath issues...motorcycle accident...house fire, 2 by-pass operations...the latest one is a double by-pass that I had to go thru on top of us selling the house and having to relocate by the end of the month...I made it thru the double by-pass, we're packing everything up to make a move and we've got our Spyders ready to roll....We're not giving up...<laughing>...As a matter of fact we're gonna move to eastern Tn or Ky and we'll be ready to ride some of the terrific roads there and meet up with other Spyder riders there. The Spyders have given me a new outlook on life beyond sitting in a rocking chair waiting for my retirement check...Bottom line...look for me at the Spyder events...unless something else happens to me....like the Govt wanting a whole bunch of money outta me...I won't give up..still have my bucket list...

The Beatles said it well

Bummer! :(

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.

Now my advice for those who die
you worked for no one but me.....

the tax man :yikes:
