The Spyder is set up to be scanned by BUDS. A proprietary system developed by BRP. A BUDS system can be purchased--but also not cheap.

This is not true. First, BUDS was not developed by BRP. BRP and its dealers licence BUDS from the software author. So can you. Its readily available to anyone willing to purchase the licence. And while not cheap, its less than the system quoted above. BRP does NOT frown on independent shops or owners using or owning the diagnostic software. Its not for them to have an opinion on, its not theirs.

There are also versions of BUDS above that which most dealers purchase that can do and see more items as well.
