• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a 2015 RTS with 4100 miles on it. Went to ride this afternoon after riding this morning and both keys give the orange screen of death key symbol.:mad::mad::mad::mad: Good thing it happened today and not in the middle of bfe on the way to spyderfest. Dealer is coming in the morning to haul it to the shop.

Same here

3rd time was a charm --- so far the bike runs flawlessly on the 3rd module. They will get it fixed. Just wish it put the bike in Limp Mode instead of not even starting. Oh, well.

Take a picture of the D.E.S.S. error and show it to your dealership and have them OPEN A CASE WITH BRP.

Please post on that thread, so new/and current spyder owners now. Also, go to "Deanna777 look at Threads started. Deanna

D.E.S.S. module=Bad joke

BRP really needs to remove this module from the spyder lineup. It is nothing more than a FALSE sense of security. If someone wants your bike, They WILL get it.

Glad someone brought this up, started happening to me a couple weeks ago. i thought it had something to do with putting a volt meter on it but apparently its a known issue. In my case all i have had to do every time it comes up is turn it off, wait a minute and then turn it back on, doesnt get worse as it does does it? I will check Deanna thread though and see what it says.

YES IT GETS MUCH WORSE

It will go into COMPLETE FAILURE at some point down the road, you have a faulty module and need to have this addressed by the Dealer ASAP......it's a warranty issue......Go to the DESS thread and get the correct part numbers and bring the info to your dealer.....in case they are CLUELESS ...............Mike :bbq:

Take a PICTURE of the D.E.S.S. error and be sure your dealership OPENS UP A CASE WITH BRP. Also this is a covered UNDER WARRANTY, be sure your dealership has the right part #'s for the D.E.S.S. module. Deanna

They are lol, last time i went in they insisted my brand new battery needed replacing cause it was dead. i said of course its dead the bike is not charging thats why i am here, the battery is brand new. Then told me the next day they had charged it all day and it was still bad and needed replacement. So i went and picked it up and took it home and charged it then took it to 2 battery places both of which tested it as perfect. They also told me that this particular fuse needed to be ordered from BRP (which took a week) and when i went to pick it up it was a fuse you could get at any auto parts store on the planet.

Anyway now you have me worried its going to fail completely so i will work on getting it taken care of. Maybe by a different dealer but next closest is 45 miles.

latony007, You are welcome for the part # info, from my old post. Good luck, Did you have your dealership OPEN UP A CASE WITH BRP ?
And did the dealership order the correct D.E.S.S. module ?

keep us posted

Deanna,

Here is a link to your thread, "D.E.S.S. KEY CODE AGAIN!!!"

To link to another forum thread, just call it up, copy the web address (URL) with your mouse, highlight the text in your new message you want to use as a link, and then hit the
attachment.php
icon, and paste the URL into the pop-up screen. (You can also link to any individual forum message by first clicking on the message number in the upper right corner to get its web address.) Thought you'd like to have this information for future reference. ;)

As for the problem itself, it seems absolutely absurd to me that BRP has not been able to permanently fix it. We're in the third year of this problem now. Apparently happens when they "improved" the DESS system on the 1330's. It was never a problem on the 998's. Being stuck somewhere, with no way to start the bike, must be an incredible nuisance to someone when this happens. :sour:

Rob, Thanks for the info on how to do " links" . I will have to give it a try.

I wish BRP would get the "D.E.S.S. problem fixed, and yes it must be a nuisance and being stranded some where. I had a 2012RTS-SE5 and I did not get the D.E.S.S. error. BRP should not have changed the D.E.S.S. system, when they upgraded to the 1330's. Deanna

I hope you don't get the error again.

I have only ridden my spyder once when I picked -up my spyder from my dealership. I know what you mean, I think it is called (White Fungus) snow/ rain, and it has been cold here also. Today, when I was out doing errands in my car, I saw the (White Fungus) coming from the sky :gaah:
