• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DESS Code twice today.

Thanks for the info and input. However, I am looking for very specific information as a follow-up to something I read on this forum, tried and appears that it may work. The only way to find out if it really does have merit is to look specifically at the cycling action when tried by several riders and see if it is generally successful. If the results seem to be positive, you or I can migrate the information to your DESS thread. Thus far only one real comment on cycling and it appears to be positive. Maybe there is something to it.
What specific information are you looking for as a follow -up?
Send me a pm on what specific information that you are looking for a follow-up.

Sounds like he wants confirmation that turning the key on and off 5 times is a magic secret. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Either way it is a mickey mouse solution and something that BRP came up with in desperation, along with trying to convince the victim that it is their fault, rather than to actually fix the issue. The OP should go and get the parts replaced again apparently some of the modules work as expected.

What's with this " document the occurrence with a photo " nonsense !!!!... I don't know who started it, but it's a bunch of BULL.......if it triggered the computer ( and it does ) then it left a signature !!!....if your dealer says it isn't there A. they are lying....or B. they are incompetent ......either way having a picture would probably cause them to say YOU TOOK THIS ON SOMEONE ELSE'S SPYDER .......Mike

Someone else?????
With the exact same milage??????
Give me a BREAK!
Both the DEALER & BRP accepted my photos of MULTIPLE failures over time.
Not accept? I use your own word "NONSENSE!"

Clearing does NOT fix the problem.
It is only temporary AND believe me it WILL get worse and occur more often over time.

In my case, I am getting the DESS Error screen. I am not, however, convinced that it is not operating correctly. That is why I am wondering if anyone else has had luck similar to mine in getting the system to clear. It may also have a little something to do with vodo and/or black magic. It would be nice if it were a real solution. Also, my dealer does not dispute the issue. It is just that mine has all of the new parts and they don't have direction from BRP as to what to do next. I don't want to replace parts just for drill.

Hi Mike,
Since you had this problem with your bike: did they tell you that it stored a code; or didn't they? :dontknow:
Anything that you can give them that shows that the problem occurred; can only help your case.
"someone else's Spyder..." :roflblack:
Why would anybody spend this kind of money, in a place where they aren't trusted?
:agree: Give me a break...

...Bob,.......Would you have bought a Spyder if the Dealer told you ...........by the way " YOU MUST HAVE A CAMERA WITH YOU - TO TAKE A PICTURE - OF ANY FAILURES " to prove to us they happened, because it's not in the computer. I made my statement to clear up another " MYTH " about dealers who claim ......IT'S NOT IN THE COMPUTER - BS .............So you should give me a break

Why does the thought of any additional documentation offend you so? :dontknow:
Go for a ride, and get some "Wind Therapy"! :2thumbs:

D.E.S.S again

Have a 2014 RTS SE6. Had DESS error last year and had it replaced. Monday went to go on a ryde and Orange screen. showed up DESS. Called the dealer Tuesday, as they are closed Mondays, and they have never heard of this happening the second time. They are going to open a case file with BRP. They had some units coming in and they will call to arrange replacement. Must have had some forethought to get some on order. Will let you know what happens

The end of this thread

I am starting to think that people are getting more fun out of complaining about this problem than trying to see if they can mitigate it when it occurs. This is not to deminish the reality of what is happening but, it seems as though only a couple of us have tried the cycling process to see if it works. Deanna777 said it worked for her. In my case, I am up to four times that the D.E.S.S. code has appeared and in each case the cycling cleared the problem. Any other input relevant to the question before this thread dissapears? :banghead:

Enjoy your bike, BRP loves your attitude. Most of us expect that things work as advertised. Most of use carry a tool kit as insurance not necessity.

I started to have DSS problem on my 14 RT at Spyderfest 2015. I rode back to Ga. with with another dss code. Went to my dealer when I got home and he ordered parts, module and keys. Quick turn around. That summer I made a 8000 mile trip to Alaska with no more problems. I have had 3 Spyders 11+14 RTs and 16 F3 T loved all. Long trips on all. A good dealer with a good tech came solve most problems.
