• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Demographic of the typical Spyderlovers member

Based on the article Doc posted about BRP going public, and the statement that most BRP customers were high wage earners with a sizable discretionary income, I thought I would pose this question. I was once a 3. :D :roflblack:

"What is the demographic of the typical Spyder owner here on Spyderlovers?"

1. Young just starting out, lots of startup debt.
2. Middle aged, decent job, time for toys.
3. Reaching retirement, loaded with lots of pocket change.
4. Retired, comfortable , but not much discretionary income.
5. Old and barely scrapin' by.

I fall in the #1 category...

...except I am not that young. I consider young to be mid 20's to lower 30's. However I do not have the extra income at all. Shoot, I am saving up for a $200 course if that means anything. I mean I am not broke but purchasing the spyder put a dent in my monthly finances for sure. But every once in a while you have to do something just because you want to and not because you need to. For me the spYder was my "just because I want too" moment. Which I rarely have those moments. So far it has been a great decision. Trying to live more by the motto of "you don't live to work, but work to live" :D

I was told once that you have to get older, but you don't have to grow up.. I am a "toys-R-us Kid that should be a 4, but still in the 3 category. My last bike was a BMW that was totaled in 1984 (Thank You Pickup truck). I have had the Spyder for about 3 months now and loving it and loving life...;);)

I'm a three except for the loads of pocket change. Retiring 1 January after 44+ years of working.

I'm a hybrid... fortunate combo 4 and 3; recently retired (4 months) with lots of pocket change.

I like your adaptation of the arm rests in your picture.

I'm in the demographic somewhere but not telling where I stand. You will note a comparison between :spyder2: riders and Gold Wing owners as far as age, etc. I am betting similar demographics for GW/:ani29: owners.

You do have to have some extra cash in order to spend 25K to 32K for a toy like the :spyder2:. The :ani29: is not like a usual 10K to 15K motorcycle. The market is pretty tough now. They are still trying to sell my pristine 2010 Vulcan 900 with only 6K miles on it for 7K. They had three potential buyers--but they did not even qualify for a 7K loan.

I'm fortunate enough, I could buy one outright. Lingering medical expenses have held me back. That may change next year. I sold my Honda a few years ago. I told my wife how much I miss riding. I have test ridden a Spyder several times. I love it. We'll see.
