• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Demo'd an ST Special Today

So you did the demo at Blackmans Cycle. I was going to attend but I was up at the Pocono Raceway going around the track on my ST Limited with other motorcycles. It was a blast. I had the bike up 95mph. Only 6,000rpm so I had a lot more juice but kept it under a 100 because I had my Wife as a passenger. Plenty of power on the ST. Mine is the Cogniac color.

That sounds like a much more interesting ride than my demo rides at Blackman's. ;) You're very close to Blackman's I see. I bought my last bike from them, which was a Yamaha Royal Star Venture - a big V4 touring bike. Rode it for 11 years, and then gave it to my son and bought the Spyder.

So can you tlak a little about the handling differences between the 2. How do they handle differently, what makes ST Special better?

Yes I am only like 10 to 15 miles from Blackman's. I had purchased a Suzuki Burgman 400 from them. Only had it for a year and traded in for my 2014 ST LTD from Smith Marine down in New Britain, PA. Very nice folks to deal with.

Well, the main differences between the ST and the F3 are the engines (high rev 998 V-twin vs low rev 1330 inline triple), the transmissions (5 speed vs the newer 6), and the riding positions, all of which have been covered in hundreds of forum messages. The reasons I preferred the ST Special, were mostly the personal preferences I've already talked about above – the way it looked, the nimbleness and sportiness of it , the sound of the engine, and mostly the way it just seemed to fit my body. I simply had a lot more fun riding it.. Others will say the same things about the F3 – it really comes down to personal choices. Both are good bikes.

I have to say that the RT has always been my "Spyder of choice", and still is. But after putting that ST through its paces, I have a LOT more respect for that machine than I did before.
