• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Deer whistle

My insurance gave me the deer whistles for my cars and bikes. My property backs up to 10,000 acres of woods and wet land with a creek running through to the river and lots of deer. Between 6PM and 6AM the deer are up in my lower yard and crossing the street to woods on the other side. When coming home in the evenings I have to watch carefully for them but have noticed that since I have the whistles on they do step back into the trees as I approach. While I can't say it's the whistles for sure It gives me a little peace of mind seeing the deer react as I approach. Even so I am always watchful as they can do some unpreditable things.

I noticed here in North Jersey, The deer are getting smarter and only cross the roads where the State put up deer crossing signs.:ohyea: I guess all the ones that don't use those crossing's are slowly being taken out of the gene pool.

I can't say whether these whistle deals work or don't work but this is my personal experience with them:

In 40 some years of driving I had never hit a deer....came scary close several times but no contact. They were getting pretty plentiful around the late 90's and I saw the whistles and thought they might be a nice little bit of added protection. Less then a month later....a brief flash in the headlights and...WHAM!! A nice big 8 pointer! OK, just bad luck....right? A couplw weeks after getting the truck out of the body shop....WHAM again! A medium sized doe!

Conclusion....the whistles may work for others but they sure don't work for me!!

Remember Francine at Wall St.??

Yep, I remember all the hoopla over Francine. She worked at Chemical Bank as a data entry operator and I was doing field service work for IBM at the time in the banking arena. They turned down my request for a transfer.:dontknow: Go figure!!

NOw you're really teasing me! And it's a slow day here so I'll have to sit and pout for a while over a cup of "Brown Ambition"... :coffee:

I have done a lot of research on line regarding deer whistle and studies prove they have no effect, however some vehicales (military if I recall correctly) use an electronic one that may have some value, they are still testing these and do not recommend them at this time.

Randy

whitsels

I have hit three deer, two with motorcycles and one with a car. regarding the whitsles. If you do get them make sure you get the metal ones so that you can resuse them after you hit one.
jst my opinion, I could be wrong.
