• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Deer Alert Devices

I have heard those deer alarms do not work. There are some reviews, I think on the web.
I did, however, install them on my Wife's car, and my truck in the past. They aren't on now.

In other words, I still saw deer on occasion. :) And, I live in the country. No difference with, or without them.

I have them on my SUV and whizzed by a herd of them on side of the highway at 70+. Some didn't even look up at me.

So they dont work eh? Well I guess I dont really need it since I got a loud exhaust (2 Brothers Dual Carbon Fiber Exhaust)

From what I understand, the deer alerts emit a sound that we can't hear and deer can, that cause them to just freeze as you go by. Really hard to know whether they work or not until you hit one to prove they don't. If having them installed gives you peace of mind, then install them. If I lived in an area that had deer traffic, I would have them installed. A loud exhaust will scare them and cause them to run. If you're in their way...

I dont think that they will make u not see deer...i think they are for making deer associate the sound with the lights....deer get sort of hypnotized when they see lights and jump out it in front of them..when they see the light and hear the sound they know which way to run...that being said, ive never used them so i dont know if they work....but i do hunt deer :yikes:

Right. The thing is; a set can be had for around $6.00. So, for those that are curious, it's no big investment to see how they do in their 'neck of the words'. Lol!

All I can say is I had them on a 86 FXST and hit a full size Doe at 70 mph and these were bought in Maine and were supposed to be the best on the market 1987 was a very bad year this was 1:30pm when deer are supposed to be layin back so it could have been spooked:spyder2:

I have them on my truck... the deer still run out in front of me and I had one broadside my truck a few weeks ago. I see a lot of deer on my way to work at 4 am, yesterday I saw 22 deer and 1 raccoon. The deer alarms aren't expensive so I figured I would try them. Perhaps the deer hear me coming but it doesn't make them any less of a danger. I haven't put them on the spyder yet because I think it is loud enough they know I am coming. They pretty much just stand there and look at me, but I do see a lot of dead ones that have been hit too. I would hate to hit one on the spyder.

My Dad had a Yamaha Venture Royale. We rode to V-daze in Steamboat Springs. On the way there, another rider stopped at the gas station we were filling up at. On the front of the his Venture, deer whistles. On top of the trailer he was pulling in a pet taxi...one very wild eyed, ticked off dog.

I've read several study results on the passive deer devices and all said conclusively that they did not work.

Have not seen any such study on the powered devices.

Most people run them because they figure it can't hurt. I'd say the people that sell them are just fine with that.

If the device makes them stay still, you are better off...if it makes them run, you're in trouble...I have tons of deer in my area and I'm just careful when I drive...if it's late at night, I'm even that much more careful...

The device listed in one of the posts above is about 80.00...(you have to install it)...I don't think anything is going to work 100% of the time anyway...if it can help though, then 80.00 to save lives is great...

Deer are wired up by the low bidder. Who knows what makes them bolt. Lights, sounds, the voices in their little heads...who knows. I've heard so many stories of people hitting deer while running some sort of "deer whistle", I personally wouldn't waste my money on any of them. You just have to hope they bolt the other way.

Hey Rudolph...why are some of those cars whistling at us?
I don't know, we never could figure that one out...We quit paying attention to it 20/25 yrs ago.
