• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've been lurking the forum for over a year or so... Thanks to all for the posts about the good and the bad... Have to admit it - I'm slightly obsessed with getting my own :spyder2:.

Just about ready to purchase - so currently, here's my local options for a Phantom Spyder:

1) 500+ miles for just under $15k - Phantom limited edition (2 yr warranty)
2) new 2009 - use $1,500 (Can-Am promotion) to add Phantom kit
3) used 2008 with Phantom kit with 8,000+ miles for $11.5k

Any advice much appreciated...

welcome
That's a hard call. I wouldn't be too concerned with the one with 8,000 miles on it unless it was a problem child and the only way you would know that is if you had service records.

The last option looks good....You could ask the seller to provide the maintenance history

Thanks fellas...
The 8,000 mile one is a demo, so it's hard not to want to go that route...
It's hard to add up the +/- since the Phantom limited has the fog lights, 6 spoked wheels, etc...

If it's not trashed and in pretty good shape I would go for the demo unit then. Resale time it won't matter that much so you might as well let them take the first hit.

If the third one is a demo it should still have the two (2) year factory warranty. That's the way I would go.

Plus it has the 2 year factory warranty from the day you purchase. :2thumbs:

I would scratch the second option for sure. While the $1500 in accessories from BRP may get you the Phantom panels, it will not get you all of the other things that actually come on the Phantom model. Along with the color, you have the 6 spoke wheels, trunk liner, cover, and a whole bunch of billet pieces that do not come stock on the other Spyder models. Those billet pieces are at least $50 each, and add up very quickly.

welcome I would also chose option #3.

Thanks so much to everyone for the advice! Looks like I'm one day away from owning this:
