• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

debris in radiators

I had the front off my 2014 RTL and noticed how much debris was in the radiators after 25K miles. I am ordering the front grill screens to see if they will act as another barrier for debris getting through. Always thought they were mainly for looks before.

The man I bought my 2012 RTL from warned me about that. He was able to take one long trip before becoming to ill to ride, and noticed his heat gauge rising. When he checked the radiator the front was blanketed in bugs and debris. No screens yet but I do wash that area regularly and yes even in normal day to day riding it does collect a lot of junk.

Keep an eye on it...

The screens do a great job of keeping the bugs and stuff from getting embedded in the radiators but still need to be checked and cleaned. We have several vendors with grilles that are quite nice...

Yup! You've got to get used to walking around the front of your bike...

...And taking a look at what's sticking to it!

I have the KOTTs. Easy to install, look good, work great. Fall leaves can still muck up the air intake, but these are much easier to clean than the radiators.

I like the fact that I can bend over and just wipe off the leaves with the new screens. Without them it was on the knees to get back there far enough to dig the stuff out....

DEBRIS ETC

I made my own KOTT type grills ..... and this helps .... however stuff still gets past to the Radiators...... I removed the OEM grills to make my KOTT grills ..... so now I don't have to remove the frunk the get to the radiators, I just remove the outside grills ....... Mike

any pics on how you did it?

PICS - ?

any pics on how you did it?
Sorry when I did it I didn't take pics...... First I made a cardboard template of the area/hole where the new /kott grill would go ...... then I took the frunk off and put the template against the OEM grill to see if it was smaller - it was ....... so I cut the OEM grill out, most of it is just HELD between two pieces of plastic.... then I trimmed this grill smaller than the Template , added 4 sheet metal tabs with screws , put it in , marked for them , drilled holes and attached with pop-rivets. Put the tabs on the grill first so you line up holes in the MESH ........ Mike
