Dealership list for the GPS

New Spyder owner (it's actually my wife's but I'm delivering it to her :2thumbs

I'm travelling from Alaska to Texas and would like to load the Can Am dealerships into my Zumo like I have my BMW dealerships. Has anyone converted the 85 page PDF available on the BRP site into a GPX file yet? Even a CSV or Excel file would be closer.

Also discovered at least the dealership in Kalispell, MT doesn't really understand the concept of a motorcyclist touring. I called him to see if he could check out a vibration (suspect it's the drive belt) and parking brake noise (suspect adjustment) and was told he could look at it next Wednesday? :lecturef_smilie: I explained that I would only be in Kalispell 2 days, he didn't understand.

Hoping someone has the GPX file or I've got a project to do when I get home.

Ok I'm blind, I just don't see a list in excel format. I see a text list. Also the excel or csv needs specific longitude and latitude for the dealership.
File needs this format:
<Lon>,<Lat>,["]<Name>[@<Alert Speed>]["],["] [comment]["]

example -94.81549,38.80390,Bonita

I'm building one of these for Wisconsin, will be doing Illinois and then Tennessee for my trip in September. When I'm done I'll post it here.

I know that BRP had talked about making their dealer list so it could be loaded into a GPS but I've yet to see that.

If BRP would just make the list available in a plain Excel file, it's pretty easy to create the gpx file. Then if you have a Garmin (of course you do) you can load it with their free POI loader. Then if I need to stop by a dealership I can see where the closest is.

I noticed they are also using Google Maps to display the location of the dealers. Getting that data file would be even better. One could dream ray:

Taking a down day today, back on the road tomorrow. Glacier National Park tomorrow, Yellow Stone NP the next 2, then working our way home by next Sunday.

I have created a .gpx file of part of the dealer list; it covers Ala. to Fla. It validates so I know the code is ok.

What I'm in the process of checking it the accuracy of each entry. If anyone here would like a copy of the file, I'd be delighted to send it. Write me off-list at the address below.

Keep in mind that the file could not possibly be perfect (I think there are 99 entries) given my typing, etc. As others have pointed out, the list itself is flawed because dealers have quit and I haven't kept copy of the list up to date. Over time, however, I think we can get a relatively accurate list.

I have the other three parts ready to code -- which will be much faster now that I know what I'm doing. But if you'd like to "play" with what I've done, let me know.

I just finished another part of the dealer's listing; it's from Georgia to Maine.

My plan is to create files for the four pieces of the list and then combine them into one listing.

Write me if you want either of these first two.

The way I do it is simple. As follows:

1) Find the location on MapQuest or Google maps
2) Right click on the location and you will see a What's here? option
3) Click on that and look at the box on top and you will see the geographic coordinates for that spot

We made it back home. 5, 339 miles from Alaska to Texas. The wife and I road 2 up for the last 2700 miles. We were able to swap out responsibilities of the rider/co-rider spots. She loves her new bike. I don't think I'll get to ride it much any more.
