Dealer telling me the truth?

I am about to purchase a 2015 F3S w/ touring escape package. One particular dealer told me that he has to purchase a "stock" F3 S in black, then purchase all the 'touring escape package' parts, install them on the stock F3, then charge me his standard F3 price, then charge me for the touring "extras", then charge me for the installation of those "extras". Geeezzzzzzz. He telling me the truth? this how it works??

As I understand it, the touring accessories that make up the "package" can be ordered off their "list." The price of your touring escape package depends on how complete you want your particular F3 to be.

Some dealers are more mercenary than others when it comes to install of accessories. We have discussed that there does not seem to be a "firm" price for the package because it depends on what you want. Me, I do not like the system as it gives the mercenary dealers a chance to take you for a "ride."

IMO--a package should have a package price. Even though you buy a group of accessories for your package, most dealers seem not to discount because it is a package price.

At least we can get the RT in a few different package flavors and know the exact price we have to pay.

Yep,,, as SILLY as it sounds he's right.. I don't know why they / BRP even call it a package and it shouldn't be priced so high it makes your butt hurt / including the part that's by your wallet...

That is the way they do it. :banghead::banghead: You can pick what you want or as much as you want and install them yourself to save. Imo they should not offer a package if it is sold by the piece...:lecturef_smilie:

They are being honest. Mother BRP and their packages are BS! It's just a way for the dealers to bump their bottom line by selling the "package" accessories at the ridicilous msrp....

Unless the dealer is going to discount the parts I would buy the bike and purchase the parts from some of the vendors here on the site as there are one or two that offer a discount

After all: there's LOTS of wiggle room in those prices!

What is dumb (IMO) is you don't get credit for all of the parts they take off. Sure, you get to keep them I guess, but what do you need them for?

I might recommend shopping around... there are some online dealers that discount significantly ... fly or drive - pick up your spyder ... have a ball riding it home & save a bunch....

Yes, it's true if he/she is just selling a stock model. There are some dealers who put some options on to entice, but the BTL is the options are options, not a package. Terrible marketing, but oh well....I still ordered/bought a butt load when I purchased mine.

ALL My opinion - Do your sums.
I got the complete touring package for my F3S. 25% off. If I bought individually I would have received 10% off each item.
Basically it is harder to get aftermarket gear in Australia due to exchange and shipping rates, so wnet with the package.
The chrome wheels are still in the box and I fitted everything else. I also purchased a few other bits.
In hindsight I would advise you to just purchase items when you need the bits.
IF you are mechanically minded the only thing I would suggest the dealer to fit would be the heated grips, a PITA. Driving lights are not an option In Australia/Europe.
The foot pegs are a problem, if you do not undo bolts one at a time ie undo one to break the lock tight tighten it back up and undo the other one. Try heating the bolt up with a hot air gun to melt the lock tight. Otherwise you are likely to strip the bolts as they are bolted in to brass bushes.
The screen front bolts can easily be cross threaded drill the holes out in the screen a bit bigger BRP did not account for the angle they go in at. If you redrill all the holes it will fit better and not rattle lose at the x2 1/2 rubber places (cluster bolts). But the screen is basically useless as per all other threads.
The foot plates are ok if you like plates and gives you room to move around.
The chrome frame end plates are just that (chrome). The original are metal as well.
The only option I value as an essential is the fox rear shock (or elka etc) The rear shock is useless if riding 2 up. The first pot hole I hit at 15mph with 80 kilo me and 65 Kilo wife on board made the rear tire melt/rub a big mark in to the plastic. I can quicly adjut it for 1 up or 2 up riding it makes a lot of difference.
Also the original seat is more comfortable for the average rider it has a bigger lip at he back of the riders seat.

The dealer is probably telling the truth, but his hard-luck story about all the work he'll have to do to sell a bunch of over-priced accessories would be of no interest to me.

Ask for an "out-the-door" price with all your extras installed. Then shop around and see if you can get a better deal!

Install them yourself

Just order the parts and install them yourself, save the expense. When we bought our F3S, we included the purchase of the Blue Ridge Windshield and the backrest. Once we got our F3S home, It took about 1.5 hours to install both. I don't know about the bags, but I can't imagine they are hard to install.

BRP foot boards can be problematic (especially passenger ones) . The bolts have yellow lock tight and are metal to brass. Hint undo one and do it back up and undo the other one, do it back up to take up slack (put pressure back against the brass bush) and undo the first one then the slightly tightened one. When you see the brass bushes you will understand why. This will break the locktight and avoid stripping the brass tangs off. If your not careful you will end up drilling some bolts out and maybe wrecking the rubber bushes. Some dealers have been reported to not putting the passenger footboards on correctly and they will not stay up (missing rubber bushes (new ones do not come with the boards.
Be a bit careful with the Blue ridge front 2 small bolts they can easily be cross threaded. They go in at an angle and the screen is drilled at 90* ( to be safe drill the screen holes a little bigger).

BRP heated grips are a little tricky if you are not careful to make absolutely positive the throttle returns properly. You have to ensure the end spring is tensioned slightly. Also do not need to take all the panels completely off eg do not unplug everything , only the throttle wiring. Hint do this job before putting a screen on (you have to take it off again - and if the dealer has stripped the 2 front bolts it could get messy). It would be good to do heated grips along with Auxiliary lights and changing bars. Saves you time taking panels off.
The BRP fox rear shock, you need to lift the rear wheel off the ground. Maybe set the spring preload before you put it on.
USB power socket under passenger seat do not be too fussy about putting the plug in the hole, just plug it in and leave it under the seat. It took 1 hour because I have the Australian/European turn signals that have to be dismantled. They also had to be dismantled to put the rear shock on.

All other F3 BRP OEM accessories are easy to do.
