• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dealer Set Up

With so many posters feeling that dealer set up is the cause of many of the problems with the Spyder, why doesn't BRP ship the Spyder complete? Or at least with just the front wheels and fenders removed. I understand it's done for space issues but relying on different dealers all over the world to assemble the Spyder correctly is asking for trouble and headaches for many owners.

The more assembled, the more chance of damaging things during shipping. The rough road trip would probably neccesitate numerous adjustments by the dealer, too. It doesn't sound practical to me.

to assemble or not to assemble is the question

We import cars, fully assembled from all over the globe, tested, warranted and ready to roll. To the customers specification. Same for planes, robotics, you name it. Unless there is a large local component I do not see the reason for a local chap to put all the spyder bits together, unless it has to do with import duties and taxation which could be different for sub assemblies compared to finished product, there is no other reason for shipping sub assemblies.
I would prefer to place an order for a spyder to be ext factory, factory tested and warranted, wrapped in bubblewrap, delivered to the local dealer, checked over by the dealer and onto me

Brp does it that way because it's easier for them to do it, Their assembly line is not so precise, So a fully assembled Spyder will have to be worked over by the dealer anyway.
Back in the days when a car company would ship a car that was suspect assembly wise, They would push it on the trailer and call it a present for the dealer! :)

When mine arrived in the crate, it looked assembled except for the windshield and the front tires and fenders. I took pictures and will have to see if I still have them at home. The dealer had to take it apart to install the cb and some other things I wanted installed. I am sure it needed fluids since there are so many different laws regarding toxic chemicals (oil and antifreeze).

The front trunk was also removed & had to be installed by the dealer.

I totally agree. We can send a man to the moon. We can certainly fully protect a Spyder in transport to the dealer.
