There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Dealer Assembly?

I got a quote from a dealer in Phoenix for a 2015 RT-S and they added a $688.00 Dealer Assembly charge. I asked the salesman about it, and his reply is that they have to assemble them and pass the cost on to the customer.

I've purchase 4 new motorcycles, and dozens of new cars in my lifetime. Never, ever has a dealer charged me a "Dealer Assembly" charge. Is this something unique to the Spyder? Personally, I think its another way for the dealer to get their hands in my purse.

Thanks

shop around... lots of dealers are willing to deal... if they don't .. save them the trouble of depositing your money in their bank account.. and buy elsewhere... $688.00 dealer assembly is absurd...

Whats in a name..??

they have different names and discriptions but in the end you need to see the out the door price. Seems this dealers choice of names is off. You can't take it in the crate usually they call it dealer prep etc. Work on the final price and do shop around...

I forgot to mention, this dealer also added $697 for Dealer Freight. So the total absurd charges are $1,385. I'm going to see a different dealer today and I'm going to insist against those ridiculous charges.

Welcome to Spyderland Pam. You'll find that first costs and maintenance costs are high but for me the motorcycle experience with the security of three wheels is worth every penny!

Like others said...it is the out the door/final price that matters as some dealers could hide these costs also. The Dealer I purchased from advertises that they do not charge freight or set up costs on any bike.

They were also willing to deal a little bit. I got a ST-L 2014 MSRP was almost $25K for $17,300.00 I thought it was a good price.

Know your costs and what you will pay before you even step in the Dealer. Tell them what you are willing to pay, give them a card with your ph # on it....and be willing to walk out !

You have to know when to hold em and when to fold em Pam. you dun good.

Ridenow sucks as anyone will tell you. They have close to 40 dealerships now that sell Spyders and many car dealerships. The parent company is Coulter Cadillac.

Try someone else!

I'm sure someone will chime in soon on who is a good dealer in your area. Many people do travel some distance to do business with a well respected dealer.

A great option worth the travel is Pitbull in Springfield, MO. We got our new 2015 RTS there during Spyderfest! Love it!

Don't let this dealer sell you the oceanfront property he has in Phoenix either. :yikes:

They are playing the mark em up game and not being very subtle about it. Also you should not have to pay $200 or so for DOC fees. That's a good price to push the print button.

Have bought five :spyder2:'s and never paid freight or assembly. Its all in the final $'s of the deal. How much off MSRP, How much for my trade? Etc. etc. Other fine points come in like financing rates, etc.

My dealer always starts with MSRP and we do the dance from there.

Dealer has an RT on the floor with a MSRP of $31,230.

He has discounted it down to $27,400. Heck of a deal but there are some add ons to cover dealer costs.....

Shipping.... $850
Assembly......... 822
Shop supplies.... 108
Rest room supplies... 106
Coffee service ..... 122
Building maintenance 420
Yard maintenance 316
Uniform rental 455
Pest control service 88
Showroom plants 55

Out the door price.... $30,742

That is quite a mark down on last year's model!!!

is the key. It does not matter how they get there.

Same with a trade in. Ask with and without trading one in. I got #4,000 trad in on a old van on a new truck. Without trading the van in, it was fifty dollars more. Van had a lot of good parts, tires, seats and the engine was not bad, but body was half rust.
