Dead Spyder

Latest news on the Dead Spyder, the engine is back together but not back in yet. The tech is trying to have it all back together late next week! So far the total is a tad over $7,500 for the new engine.

:yikes: Yikes! A lot of money for sure. Glad it was all covered. Sounds like you might be riding it soon. Tom :spyder:

At the end of the day

After reading this thread my conclusion would be, when I get my RT-S next April, to make sure I pony up for the extended warranty......WOW what a story!

$7500???

Wow . Yes the warranty seems pretty crucial when available . What would be the cost be to replace one of the triples I wonder . That's approaching the cost of a v8 crate engine

I don't know about a crate motor but that's the cost of a VW DSG transmission replacement!

Good to hear it's getting closer to being ready. This is a great decision swayer for those on the fence about purchasing an extended warranty!

The service manager called this afternoon, the Spyder is back together and should be ready to pick up in the morning... if it ain't raining I'll go get it.

Edit: just looked at the date of the first post and pretty much 9 weeks from the day it died. The dealer had it about 8 weeks as I said before they tried to see if it was a quick fix and when it was not I had to get back in line. So the upshot is I good with how long it took.

Good to hear , seemed like a while but back with a nice tight engine :)
interested to see if you notice any difference ( improvement I mean )

That's good news JT. Hope you get good weather for a break in ride. Tom :spyder:

Extended forecast shows rain for the next 10 days... and it's been raining for a while. :(

At least I'll have time to fit the new Ultimate seat and finish building my new blast cabinet.

Got a call yesterday from the dealer and the Spyder still has a check engine light and something about the throttle body so I might get a new one... throttle body I mean.

What's one more delay. Good that it was found before you got it back. At least you have your wing to keep your riding fix satisfied

Yep, and it's all under the same $50 deductible.

Pretty nice day here today, the BlueWing, me and the back seat driver are going for an ice cream cone at the Eminence Dairy Shack be back in time for a nap I think.
