• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dead Spyder (update)

Went out to take a ride on my 2011 RT and when I turned the key on......nothing....I mean nothing. The battery is about 1 year old. I checked all the fuses (frunk and under seat) and they all appear good (it is hard to determine if the fuses are good under the seat...but again they look good). When I place a battery charger on the bike, it says the battery is charged. However, when I attempt to start the bike with the charge attached....nothing....not even the display. I looked in the trunk and the accessories outlet has power. The battery connections are tight, no corrosion....

Before I blame this on a bad battery, could one of the relays have gone bad? And how do I even go about checking those?

If the battery checks out good.....where do I begin to attempt to locate the source of the problem?

---Update:

Very dead battery.....hate that when it happens

Even if the battery reads as "good" on your meter; the best way to test them, is to get them load-tested...
If It checks out then; I'd start checking for tight connections, loose fuses, and relays that have popped...
Good Luck!

Here's the thing..!!

if there is nothing...there is no power getting to the system. The kill switch will not be it, and none of the starting proceedures will be it. Battery, ignition, main. the fastest way to eliminate is hook her up to the car engine (off) if she lights up starts you know it is the battery. If nothing then the ignition or the main and or cables to the frame. If she lights up but does not start the the kill switch etc...good luck and do let us know...

For what is worth, I agree with the idea of using your car to try and jump start your Spyder, and if you don't feel comfortable doing that, pull the batter and take it to O/Riely's or Auto Zone and have them test it. 10 to 1 the battery is dead.

key switch

I know this is an old thread but I was searching for anyone that has had an issue with the key switch periodically not energizing the system. Sometimes I have to wiggle it off and on a few times before it powers up. 2014 RT LTD.

thanks to all who helped....

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help.....I ultimately solved the problem ...replaced the battery and then I traded the bike in for 2015 RT-S. Problem solved.

:D

You would probably get more response by starting a separate thread. If you have any warranty left it would be a good idea to get to a dealer and have them check it out.
