• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DEAD SPYDER

I had the exact thing happen to my 2011 RS-S at the beginning of the season. Went for a ride, stopped for about an hour, went to start it to come home, nothing. Dash lit up with VSS and other lights, as soon as I hit the starter switch, the dash would die. I put a battery charger on it for a little bit and the starter would click rapidly meaning there was not enough voltage. I put a set of booster cables on it and hooked to a buddys truck and it took almost 20 minutes of running the truck to get enough charge in the battery to start the spyder. Got it home, and it died in my driveway. After troubleshooting everything, I found that my battery was internally shorted and causing a huge draw on the system. Got a new battery, been fine for the last 2000 km.

Same here with the 2010 RS-S. Parked her one night and the next morning. Lights go on then...click, click, click. Battery swap did the trick for me.

A battery that is dying... but not yet dead; will appear to light the dash normally. Right up until you push the starter button!
If you have the battery load-tested, it'll tell you for sure!

which dealer did you take it too? did you call them?

RPM on Wadsworth Blvd and no I have not called them as they were closed on Sunday and Monday so they will get a call today... To all the rest I will be pulling the Battery out today and you say Batteries Plus do they carry a replacement for the Spyder:dontknow: it will be worth it to me just to get back on the road and if it runs good I won't have to push it down to the tracks and wait for the Train...:sour: Here's to Hope thanks to all that have responded this is one or the reasons I like this site :thumbup: jtopllock

Dead battery

My gs did the same thing ...spring start up revealed dead battery .i blamed it on my sound system .so I unplugged it .thw days later same thing .hmmmm now I'm thinking drain on battery .ok so I go to americade ..and wouldn't you guess .! Dead battery one morning .
im pretty sure these electrical systems don't like being jumped .i hade to leave my Tahoe on for twenty mins to get enough charge into battery to start .but I did notice even charging the battery with charger I would need to keep it on for a minimum of a half hour .
got a new battery from batteries plus ..a nice one with 350 cca no more problems .even while listening to stereo while installing more LEDs .....now just to fix that damn brake noise when backing up

We had the same symptoms on my wife's old RS and that battery was only a 1 month old Odyssey battery. Thought for sure it had to be something else...Nope, it was the battery. I put in a new Yuasa and it was good.

 Those pesky Canadians sure know how to make something simple: NOT! :D

(SO glad to see that you're smiling a little bit!)

I'm using the original battery my 2012 RSS came with. I did keep it on the battery tender over the winter enduring sub-zero temperatures. It's three seasons old now, probably it's last. By the way, my Spyder's rear brake has always howled backing up. Especially when around strangers........ Really embarrassing!

:thumbup::thumbup: to all for there input the new battery did the trick and only took 3hr to install after I got it home. Batteries Plus said two weeks the get a battery so I went with the Dealer whatdahay old old word no longer in any dictionary. The battery was only $135 I can live with that it got me back on the road. The Battery change would have been very easy but I have an aftermarket Saddle Bag System that bolts to a free floating plate above the battery and was a little difficult to remove and reinstall.

I won't have to push my Spyder down to the Tracks and wait for that train!!! I'll just have to keep riding rain or shine. Ho ya I ride year round no need for a battery tender. To all :clap:nojoke:yes: NO MORE dead Spyder...jtpollock
