• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dead Battery Recharged; Now Digital Display Won't Work

So I managed to kill the battery over the winter by not putting it on a charger soon enough. Over the last few days I have managed to charge the battery enough so it will start, but the Digital Display/Multifunction Gauge won't work. You can tell there's some light behind it (it's a very light gray), and it will flash on and off and go black for a second, but it comes right back up to the light gray. I'm assuming this must have something to do with the battery dying. The fuses all seem to be okay and I know it's getting power, but the full display will not come up. Any suggestions? Is there a reset I can do myself, or MUST I take it to a dealer to test the relays? Thanks!

Did you try the Error Code Salute
MODE-SET-TURNSIGNAL CANCEL?

Just tried that--no luck. I'm assuming these three buttons are to be pressed simultaneously when the Spyder is running in neutral? Does it need to be in a different gear, or some other mode? I appreciate your help!

No, do it with ignition on but engine not running.

First, your display could be bad.
They do go bad.

But the fact that it happened coincidentally with the battery going down would make me think it has at least a good possibility of being a wire, connector or still a weak battery issue.

If it was mine I would start it and run it for a few minutes to make sure it wasn't going to crap out and take it around the block a few times.

I can't find any procedure for resetting the display.
BUDS may have one, so it might mean a trip to the dealer if the display doesn't come back.

I'm about to run it around the block a few times, then up to the dealer. It's still under warranty so hopefully it won't hurt too much. I'll report back with what I find out. Wish me luck, and thanks to all for your help!

Best guess, the battery is not puting forth (for whatever reason) a clean stream of juice and the console is (as I have witnessed) reacting to it. Bad battery or bad battery connection. jm2c

I agree with Jerbear. When a battery goes completely dead like that even if it takes some kind of a charge you might still have a dead cell. Replace battery would probably be the solution or do a load test to make sure your battery is good.

Could still be low voltage, but it is unlikely the Spyder would have started with it that low. You can confirm the battery voltage with a multimeter. There are some very functional units available quite inexpensively right now. I do suspect the cluster has gone south. Time to see your dealer.

Thanks to everyone for their tips and advice. I ended up taking it to the dealer. Since it's still under warranty I figured I'd let them handle it rather than waste my time trying to figure it out. I'll definitely post back with the results. Happy ryding!
