• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DC Gold Speakers

I installed a nice 300 watt amp last spring, small enough to hide behind my panel where the XM Radio Module would go. Great amp (Rockfort Fosgate) but I could not find speakers that could handle the power. After blowing 5 speakers I cranked the gain way down but lost a lot of volumn of course. I have been researching speakers since I bought the amp and finally found speakers that are a prefect match to the amp.

These are DC Gold Classics rated at 80 RMS with 300 peak. They are hand built and water proof (I also bout the gasket that protects the back of the speaker. The grills are intrigal but there is enough room to mount in the stock locations. These are the only high power 4" on the market and they come in black so they won't show through the stock grills.

They also sell a step up line called DC Gold Refernce but they told me this would be a waste on a motorcycle. They are even more expensive of course so I was glad to get these and save a few hundred.

I will get back to you after I install with a sound quality report.

These speakers can be used with the stock radio and no amp but I doubt you would get the value out of them (the setup runs just shy of $600 but I have wasted more than that on blown speakers). http://www.dcgold.com/car-and-marine/waterproof-speakers/

I also blew my slim line 100 watt bass amp/speaker that I mounted in the frunk vertically against the fuse panel/battery side of the frunk. This was not marine rated and I think it just got too damp. I have ordered a 300/600 watt marine setup that is the exact same size but it will triple the power and I expect great things from this as well. The old amp really added depth but I had to have it turned all the way up, this amp should allow me to use the remote volumn control and match the base to the music.

The woofer/amp arrived yesterday and I am close to having it installed. I will let you know how it sounds in the next day or so.
