• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Daytona Owners Meet

I'm having a hard time keeping up with my work and blogs so I decided to quit the day by day reports and just highlight some of the noteworthy points.

Thursday was the owners event. We had a great group of SpyderLovers show up and a few of the BRP/Spyder reps.

I got to hangout with Chaz Rice for a couple of days. He's now overseeing the RT5 program and will be working with all things Spyder related. He seems like a really great guy and is pretty excited about working with Spyder owners to promote the product

Fred Rau flew in from the San Diego area and picked up his updated preproduction RT. It got a new wiring harness upgrade but when he got to the BRP tent he noticed he didn't have any trailer lights. He asked Kurt to take a look at it but he was busy checking belt tension and hooking up the BUDS for folks and was going to be a while. I asked Fred if he wanted me to take a look at it. He said sure if I like and I started with the obvious by checking the plug and fuses.

I wasn't sure if the trailer had it's own fuse so we checked the fuse box and sure enough there was. The only problem was I had to pull the relays to get to the fuse. That's when I found out that Fred was getting a little nervous about me just pulling fuses and relays and not marking where they went. At one point I dropped all the relays out of my hand and said "oh no". Fred was freaking out now. I found the trailer fuse and it was good but now it was time to put the relays back in. What Fred didn't know was that all but two of the relays were the same. Two are bigger and you can plug them in the wrong place but then the rest won't fit. I knew that so I started plugging them in the wrong place and came up with extra relays that wouldn't fit just to mess with Fred. He said something like are you sure it's going to be alright? I said "no but it's not my Spyder". I could see that he was starting to get real nervous now and I had better get it put back together right.

So we still have no lights and then I got to thinking I'll bet when they did the wiring harness they forgot to plug in the other end. I checked for power on the Spyder end and sure enough it was dead. By this time Kurt was freed up and we went on the hunt for the other end of the plug. I got out my screw gun out and started zipping off panels. I had the whole left side off and still didn't see the plug. Then we took off the rear panels and left tail light and found the harness but not the other end. So then I took out two screws that hold the battery cover under the seat and there it was, unplugged. Kurt plugged it back in and we had lights. Tuns out I didn't have to take any of those panels off but we didn't know that at the time. I love taking things apart anyway.

So Fred is hooked up and ready to go and he was able to do what he likes best and that's talking to folks about the RT and riding.

Kurt was busy non stop answering questions and looking at owners Spyders to check out any concerns they might have. If you have a Spyder problem Kurt is the man to have look at it.

Here's a few shots of some of the Spyder owners chatting it up before the big ride around the track.

Here's a shot of Chaz Rice and Louis Levesque. Lou is the marketing director for Can Am. Another really great guy that's excited to work with owners to promote the Spyder.

From there Chaz greeted all of us here and made a few announcements including the Spyder owners event in Chicago/ Wisconsin. Lou said a few things too and after that he saddled up to hit the track.

I walked around and took a few pics and video before we took off.

The ride on the track was fun but I really wanted to open it up on the banks. It was still a good time.

I think the final count was 65 Spyders on this ride. It was good to see some old friends and to make some new ones because of this BRP sponsored event. Thanks BRP
