Left Grand Cache about 8:15 all bundled up with long johns and raingear as it was in the mid 40s and raining when we left. Took "hiway" 40(thanks spyderrock) to Grand Prairie, along the way the rain stopped and the weather turned very nice we didn't hesitate to shed the extra clothing. While in Grand Prairie we finally met another Spyder rider and his wife, they were very nice and had tons of questions about where I got all the "stuff" for my Spyder so of course I told them about this forum and web site; I new I was in for it when they said "what's a web site, we don't do computers" any way I tried to explain the benefits but we'll see. Hiway 43 lead us to Dawson Creek and the start of the Alaska Highway (97) which we took into Fort Nelson. A respectable 486 mile day. The trip through the farm lands was not as spectacular as the Natl Parks but there was a diffeent kind of beauty such as seeing the brilliant yellow of the alfalfa fields and the vbirant lavender of the hyicynths (sp) along the hiways; the stately evergreens along the hiway formed a corridor for us to follow. One thought came to mind as we rode through the different venues was that every now and then we would see where either bettle kill or a fire marred the beauty but the beauty was so evident that the bad section was overshadowed by it and forgotten very fast; relate this to all the junk we see in the news, in stead of us always dwelling on all this junk like the commentators want us to why don't we concentrate of all the great things we have(like riding our Spyders)? I challenge each of you to get on your ride and take some time to ride around where you live and really look at all the good things and not worry about the occasional hiccup. Its amazing how much you get to think about and solve all the problems facing you when you're on the back of a bike for a long ride, just maybe the quote I read "you never see motorcyles lined up outside a psyciatrists office" makes a lot of sense. Today was a put some miles behind us kinda day tomorrow we get to sightseeing again on our way through the Canadian Rockies as we head to Watson Lake. PS. Found out that the oil rig truckers sure dont like it if you're rubber necking the scenry and slowing them up, they are a lot bigger so we have learned to get out of their way; in a hurry! I'm still hitting the down shift instead of the PTT any suggestions?
