Dave & Teds Most Excellent Adventures 2013

Oh yeah, I forgot

Both my co-worker & I neither one of us could handle the long hours in the humid heat yesterday, so she talked the boss into allowing us to only work 8 hrs yesterday but now we're doing 12s for the rest of this week, so we're back to 3am-3:30pm  Again, I'm Very Thankful  for the opportunity to get the EVER SO NEEDED OVER TIME, just kinda hard to adjust ones sleeping pattern so quickly :coffee:

Still kick'n ..... haven't over-slept yet, but poor Teddy is paying the price .......

Doing what I have to do, but I feel so bad for Teddy. Going almost 13 hours alone, he's been getting so worked up, he's causing himself issues. Being born the runt of the litter, I've made no attempt to hide the fact that while Teddy is a Ham-Bone, Attention Loving, Heart Warming & Smile Inducing Spyder Ryde'n Pooch, the poor little guy does have alot of health issues. I usually keep quiet about the episodes that happen, but many of you have even generously helped us thru some of them thru these past few years  like him needing surgery to correct his luxating patella that he blew out at the 2011 SpyderFest:bowdown: and we are eternally greatful for all of yours help

Another issue he has is called a collapsing trachea and you can click on that for a link to more info about the issue, if you so desire. But basically, his wind-pipe is easily irritated causing him to usually cough or honk & he usually can't stop til he 'spits up' a little bit & then that usually helps to coat the wind-pipe for a bit & helps to calm it down. There's evidence this has been happening all over the carpeted flooring, so much so, that it will eventually need to be replaced. But I'm not really worried about that, as I've always hated that ugly carpet ever since we bought the place.

Anyways, I tried something new this morning, & I gave him a 1/2 dose of his Torib (Butorphinol) before I left for work today, in the hopes that it'll help him with his issue. I hate giving it to him without me being there to keep an eye on him, cause its actually a barbituate & one can easily over-dose an animal & put them to sleep ........ for good  His usual dose is 1CC/day & I've always given it to him as soon after I walk thru the door, cause the excitement of me finally coming home usually puts him into coughing spasms so bad, he can't do much else.

Times like this, frustrate me more than anything. Knowing that the pup is alone so long, and stressing and having issues like this ..... :( I know this is only temporary, probably only this week even, then the Emergency our Plant is experiencing will be over, then we'll be once again back to 40 hrs a week & begging we could get OT again. I just hate that Teddy has to suffer thru it right now :sour:

light some incense, put on a Hendrix album and let Teddy mellow during the day....

but seriously... I know you have to watch him (as I learned at Spyderfest) and you know whats best for the little guy

hope you and Teddy are doing well

INSTALLED SEQUENTIAL TURN SIGNALS

Those are the very same ones we're in the process of installing right now Doc, good find  We ordered ours in the bright RED & our first attempt on the left side mirror, they show thru just fine. It had been a couple of years that ours have been sitting on the shelves, & all I could remember was that we got them off of EBAY, but my guess is that this is the very same company

After our talk last night, Teddy & I had to visit a few different hardware stores & we weren't happy with their slim pickins when it came to metal fabricating so we'll keep looking for a local suplier to hopefully find something within reason as for stock and price & as soon as we find something suitable, I'll post our findings & hopefully a good outcome as well  Thanks again for talking with me yesterday & sorry to keep you on the phone for so dang long ... ... Tell Pepper Teddy says HI ;)

Here are videos of my mod :yes::yes: They are awesome!!:thumbup:

Sorry folks, this is one of those days work wise

:banghead: Wont have much time to get on here today, sorry :banghead:

Time and Teddy

:banghead: Wont have much time to get on here today, sorry :banghead:

Dave .... no problem, even though we are ALL curious. I, for one, would like to know is Teddy is adapting, better, to your work schedule since the adjustment in medication. Poor guy (and you too), it must be hard on both of you.

Best Regards .... Ann

Not so well in all honesty .... had to take him in for a Vet visit

Dave .... no problem, even though we are ALL curious. I, for one, would like to know is Teddy is adapting, better, to your work schedule since the adjustment in medication. Poor guy (and you too), it must be hard on both of you.

Not sure if this is related or not, but the poor little guy had become hyper-sensitive again, to where you could barely rub his back and he'd want to jump outta his skin :yikes: Its a normal indication that he's been getting too much food or treats that aren't part of his Hypo-Alerginic diet, causing his allergies to go bonkers, but that usually also happens with a loss of hair in the size & shape of a quarter right at his right hind quarters. First time this ever happened as a pup, I thought for sure he had Ring Worm, but after all the testing, they deemed him free of all parasites & that it was allergy related. Only this time, no issues with his coat, so his vet is thinking its most likely a result of being stressed induced :( She suggested giving him the 1/2 dose of Torib before leaving for work & then seeing how he's acting upon my return & giving him his usual dose then, if needed.

This past weekend, we had a storm blow thru, and lucky us, I was up in the attic of the garage trying to mount an electric hoist my buddy gave us to use for raising and lowering the rear of the sled & all the power went out. Needless to say, I wasn't a happy camper & it only got worse. 2100 ppl lost power around 5pm & at 10pm the Power Company called to say the power should be back on, but sadly, ours wasn't. Stayed off all night and until 11am the next morning, with us being part of the unlucky 81 that had lost power over night. Not having power, we had to cancel our Labor Day WEBN FireWorks get-together, cause all our ice melted together & I didn't know when the power was going to be back on so we couldn't go to the grocery to shop for food for fear of it spoiling. Kinda ruined the weekend for us & to make matters worse, Teddy ABSOLUTELY HATES:mad:FireWorks:mad: and where we live, we have a perfect view of them & the loud BOOMS actually shake our building and rattle our windows. I had to make sure he was really drugged up well before hand, and for the most part, he just stressed in my lap for the 45 minutes that they were going off.

Kinda glad that's over & hoping to get things back to normal soon. If nothing else, at least get the Brake Pressure Switch installed on the Sled & the Mirrors fixed and get everything back together again so we can at least ryde every day again. But yeah, while working on the brakes, I didn't realize that the brake pedal had stuck up just a tad & ended up leaving the brake lights on over night, and wouldn't you know it, sure enough, I killed our brand new battery that we had to get at this years SpyderFest. Well, I shouldn't say killed, just ran it down where the sled wouldn't start, so its been on a charger over night, and I'm praying its back to fully charged once I get home from this miserable day at work.

But you know what, as bad as it all can get, seeing Teddy's wag'n tail once I walk thru that door....... makes it all melt away ;)

Thank you

I just wanted to "Thank you" Dave for sharing the turn signal info with us. :2thumbs: I have to admit, it's one of the best mods I've done.

Sometimes, one just needs a B*tchSlap back into reality

Not ryding on a daily basis is ............................ d e p r e s s i n g :(

And with the weather being so wonderful here yesterday, we kinda said screw it & we did what we needed to do ...................... we rode & we rode & we rode

Spyder therapy  what can I say

And Teddy did what Teddy does. You woulda thought we were on a therapy tour or something, cause we did alot of running around, cause when I got home yesterday it was it the low 80s & sunny but with very low humidity & when I checked the battery charger it showed fully charged, so we decided to forgo all the stuff needing done & take the sled on a ryde to 'Wind her up' & get those RPMs up to make sure that battery truly was 'fully charged' and that's just what we did  and we both enjoyed it emensely

I can't begin to tell you how many people enjoyed seeing Teddy yesterday, how many people requested taking his pics and how many people he brought a smile to the face & a gleem to their eye.

We stopped by WalMart to do a bit of grocery shopping & even tho WallyWorld is a HUGE store, most the employees have gotten used to seeing Teddy there & they really enjoy him paying them a visit. One stranger after another would stop to see him, ask the usual questions, pet the pup a bit & take a pic or 2 & be on their way, with that grin now planted upon their mugs. One guy followed us for a while & when there was no one else around, took his turn and we had a pretty long conversation. He commented how it must take us hours to do anything, with the way we are bombarded by on-lookers and how we handle it. I tell him, Teddy is a ham & an attention wh*re & loves the admiration of his fans, while I personally, am rather anti-social and rather stay behind the scenes & let Teddy do what he does, and it just works for us. He was amazed & even Thanked Us just for being there, just for sharing ourselves with total strangers in a grocery store.

When your part of something on a daily basis, its easy to loose perspective. I try my best to not take for granted what Teddy offers me on a daily basis & sometimes, I just need him to do what he does for others for me to see how much good one little Spyder Ryde'n Pooch can do for so many....... by not doing a thing besides being himself......... I really do LOVE this dog

I love the pictures you post of Teddy. Each and every one of them brings a smile to my face. I look forward to meeting both of you at the 2014 get together in Ozark, MO. I'm pretty invested in your continuing saga and start to worry when several days goes by and we haven't heard from you. Just know that you and Teddy mean a lot to us and we really are concerned about both of your welfare.

Part of our "family"

I totally agree!! :agree: Hearing about you and Teddy are like talking to a brother everyday.:popcorn::popcorn: You make us laugh, make us frustrated right along with you, make us happy and sad. You're both a part of our big old Spyder loving family - whether you like it or not!:clap::clap:

good to hear you're both up and about....

enjoy, take your time, smell the hoses...... at Wallyworld..... did you ever find the damn gloves? lol

The Mad Scientist is alive & well ..........................

Have to admit, I'm scaring myself ............ just a weee little bit

If you saw Teddy's garage ....... or sled right now ........ you'd understand

When you don't have the finances to do what you want or NEED to do, you make do with what you do have, but often times, that can take you on a detour that you never even imagined possible

I know ALL the pieces of the Sled are still in there .............. somewhere ...
Good thing we don't NEED all of them on the Sled to still be able to ryde it ... ;)

And the looks that we get from people while we're zooming past them on the highway, well, you can imagine ... :yikes: Hopefully we'll get all this stuff completed really soon, and if some of them work, we'll share our experiences with y'all.

But of course, if they don't, you'll likely never hear about them, cause like any good politition (that we're NOT) we do need 'Plausible Denieability' ..... right ...

Celebrating small Victories

:yes::joke: And we had one last night :joke::yes::clap:

Those that follow along know about our Spyder Work Rack that I originally thought was just too large for our small one Spyder garage & thought about selling it & using the funds to get something smaller that would be better suited for our small work space, but then I figured there had to some way of making it work, with only using all the other stuff we've accumalated thru the past 5 years since we lost everything in the fire at my old place, cause we can't afford to be spending money we just don't have. So, for the past 2 weeks, I've been trying just about everything I could think of to somehow make this doable and more user friendly :dontknow:

Here's the issue.
1st, with the Sled on the rack its only a few inches from the ceiling fan, so I have to be extra careful when ryding it on or off. Believe me, one wack to the head & I learned real fast to make sure the ceiling fan is off when loading or unloading  & luckily, Teddy still has about 3 inches before he's in danger of getting whacked :yikes: That issue remains and as stated, we've learned how to deal with it.

2nd, was the size of the rack and the danger that it presented to my legs. Thank goodness I'm NOT 2 inches shorter otherwise there'd be no way in :cus: we'd be keeping the rack, cause it would be catching me right where no man wants to be hit.

As you can see in the above pic, when the sled is being worked on, we can remove the ramps used for loading & unloading to free up floor space to move around to get to the tools & supplies that are needed. But as you can notice, once the long and middle ramps are removed, the metal from for the rear tire support still stick out the same size and with having the shelves on both sides of the rack, we only have about 11 inches to be able to manuver around the legs, otherwise, as I have done countless times now, they will catch your leg and leave a nice little cut. As I said before, this is bad, but not nearly as bad as if I were about 2 inches shorter, cause that would cause me to be doubled over on the floor :yikes:

So if we were keeping the rack, this HAD to be remidied .... So that's what we've been working on for the past 2 weeks :helpsmilie:

TBC............ work work work

HuH??? Little confused where this came from .......... Left Field ???

:yikes:You mean you are taking the chance of riding in the snow?

Not that I'm recommending it for anyone else, but with the right tires, you sure can ryde your Spyder in the snow (up to a limit of course) & we have for the past 3 years ;)

I can't believe I just did that

My buddies car is in the shop for needed repairs & he had to get a rental car for a few days. I felt bad, cause I've been using the car while Teds Sled has been in numerous pieces while I tried figuring out the best way to go about making our Spyder Work Rack more user friendly for our tiny garage so that I could begin in ernest the process of fixing the Sled due to our Brake Warning Low Pressure Fault that just won't go away. Not to mention, trying to figure out the best way to about replacing the broken mirror as well. We were able to order a new 02 Sensor & replaced that which corrected that fault code.

The shop that has my buddies SUV thought they'd have it done & ready in a couple of days, so he returned the rental so he didn't have to put out extra money, as divorce makes anything extra a luxury & rare to come by. Then the shop called & said they couldn't get the part they need for a few more days, and he was in a jamb.

So I told him no worries, I got the work rack finished as much as I can do for now, and that I could now start working on fixing Teds Red Sled & getting it put back together & that he could use the car & that I'd be able to ryde again.

Well, one thing lead to another (you know how that goes) like the cut-to-fit mirror replacement first wouldn't cut correctly like the directions said it should, then after a few hours of finally getting frustrated, I decided before frustrating myself any further to make sure that it would work with the Sequential LED Arrows that we got for Teds Sled & I came to find out ........ Uh Uh .....NOPE ....... Aint gonna work :banghead::banghead::banghead: Talking about fit to be tied ....... yeah I know (now) I shoulda tried it in the first place & saved myself a HUGE helping of Frsutration ..... Live'n & Learn'n ...... Luckily we recieved an offer from Mark that he had replaced his OEM mirrors with the MUTHCO mirrors (I think) & he had his old ones sitting in the garage & if we needed a replacement to just let him know, so after finding out that our replacement one wasn't going to work, I promptly emailed him to see if his offer still stood & he was happy to help. Should be recieving it within a few days I believe. Teddy & I BOTH THANK YOU VERY MUCH MARK :bowdown::bowdown: Tho its not the first time he's come to our rescue :bowdown::bowdown:

So that blew most of the day Saturday so after watching the Bengals loose their first away game of the season, we promtly headed back out to the garage & started working on everything else. Teddy was so patient with me, supervising me the entire day. Tho he did get a little pissed at me cause I wasn't paying much attention to him cause I was so busy trying to get his sled back together again. Even in the reassembly process, one thing would lead to another etc........ and soon, it was midnight  & the sled wasn't even half way back together yet. Then, my alarm went off at 3:50am saying it was time to get up for work this morning :yikes: Oh Crap :yikes:

TBC ....................... :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I can't believe I just did that .... Continued

Time to get up ...... Wha ....... Huh ..... It can't be that late (early) already ........ can it???

OMG, it was :yikes: I spent the next 30 minutes like a Mad-Man figuring out the jig-saw puzzle of what goes where & in what order ..... quickly ......... & in my amazement, I only had one screw left over, tho I'm pretty sure where that one goes. I also will have to remove the frunk shroud later today to properly attach the frunk hood, as I couldn't remember the correct order & installed the shroud before the hood which covers up the mounting holes for the frunk hood, but hey, as long as its closed & securely latched, no harm no foul at least for one day.

I don't know how, but at 4:20am, everything I could get done to make Teds Red Sled rydeable once again, was done ..... minus the mirrors. I said heck with the mirrors for right now, I'll be extra careful to keep a watchful eye all around me for the time being. Set up the hoist and lowered Teds Red Sled back down to the pavement & just as a thank you for Teddy being so patient with me, I threw him in his passenger seat & we did a quick trip down to the dead end of our street to make sure everything worked as it should & that nothing fell off or blew up .................. OH NO !!!! What's that dinging sound??? :banghead::banghead::banghead: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!!! I need to be able to go to work today so I can save my personal days for our SpyderQuest Trip....... NO !! What the heck, did I drop a bolt & its rattling around the body work causing a dinging sound ???......:helpsmilie:

As I pulled back into the garage, going slow I could hear exactly where the dinging sound was coming from ..... the right side front suspension ..... like the A arm leading to the tire ...... dang it, I don't have time for this :banghead::banghead::banghead:

You know what?
Sometimes, I'm such an idiot
So in a panic now, I look down at the A arm and can you guess what was causing the dinging sound :dontknow::hun:

Teddy had recieved a new Gremlin Bell from one of his fans & one of those things I talked about earlier about one thing leading to another ....... well yeah, this dumb*ss had mounted Teddy's new Gremlin Bell to the right side A-arm & totally forgot about it. Being new, I had never heard the sound while ryding and our previous one that was lost or stolen had been at the back of the sled & I never really heard that one, so I wasn't prepaired for what I was hearing :opps: not to mention, I was going on no sleep as well  so you can imagine my relief when I found out what that dinging sound was :p Oh Hey, that's how its suppose to sound

OMG!!! Everything else seemed to work ok, tho we still have our Brake Failure Fault issue, but we've learned to deal with that for right now. So Teddy & I flew inside our condo & I quickly gave Teddy a 1/2 dose of his medicine & I jumped in & out of the shower in 5 minutes cause I was a sweaty greasy mess, but 5 minutes did wonders for me.

Teddy, being up with me all night, thought we must be getting ready for a long distance road-trip & he was rare'n to go & I sadly had to dash his hopes & you could tell as I told him while I was getting dressed that I had to leave now for work & I wasn't going on a road-trip without him & his wag'n tail slowly came to a stand still as I told him my usual before leaving for work, of I love you, have a good day & be good & I'll be home as soon as I can. He just looked up at me with those big sad puppy dog eyes & I felt bad for leaving him, but had no choice.

How I don't know, but I made it here to work today on time, pulling in right before the clock hit 5am

So Teddy & I pulled an all-nighter in rebuilding his sled, at least well enough for me to ryde to work today. We still have so much to do tho, but at least that stuff can be done without me having to race the clock like last night.

I feel good to have accomplished what all we did in such a short time, but I feel better in knowing that we helped out our buddy when he needed us ;)

Its a bit after 11:30am & I've just hit the wall ....... me ...... not Teds Sled

WoW, I can barely type. You have no clue how many times I've had to go back & retype even this. So glad my Laser is FUBAR'd today & they've had to call in the experts to tinker with the internals ...... & thank goodness, it wasn't due to anything I've done ;)

I know today is going to be is going to be a wasted day, cause once I get home, Teddy & I are goinna cerl up pn the couch & I
m sure I'll be out like a light.

Have to admit, tho I was a ;little nervous ryding this mornign without having the mirrors, but MAN OH MAN did it feel good to be back in the sad;dle again. I;m sure I'll [perk up again for the ryde home  Nothing like the wind in your face to help wake you up///// not to mention many many cyps of  Oh not that one..... opoooooopppppsssssss. .................I meant :coffee::coffee::coffee: yeah, that one  ........... :roflblack::roflblack:
