• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dash Goes blank and engine won't start?!

Charging

Make certain the battery has been fully charged before installing . A reputable dealer should inform you of that and a lot will tell you the battery is already charged . A lot of people think they can drop in a new battery and then charge it by letting the bike idle , this won't work and you'll discharge the battery even further and may not start the next time you try.

Thousand times ditto on this. Even if a dealer tells you it is already charged, I would still hook it to a charger and let it top off. How it is prepared before the first time it has a load applied plays a big role in how long it will last.

BAD CLUSTER ?????

Just that instrument cluster went bad! :gaah: Time will tell if that is really true!
The reason I'm curious about this is........I had a different issue and the Dealer also wanted to re-place the CLUSTER to fix it..............After getting some BETTER info here I told the Dealer not to....that His FIX wouldn't even work !!!!!.......It turned out my CLUSTER wasn't the problem................I don't trust DEALERS for a reason !!!!:yikes:.........Mike :bbq:

Well Darn it

I went to replace my battery today and what do you know the instructions and pics I have are different than actual. I am unable to remove the old battery. The pics show the battery crosswise of the bike but it is parallel with the bike and half covered so no access to the positive terminal, and not enough room to move the battery to lift it out. Back to the drawing board to look for different instructions and pics.:banghead:

In 2013 the battery was moved to the front with access to it from the frunk. Those must be the instructions you received.

Have you looked at this thread with video? http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?77494-Replacing-the-battery-on-a-2010-2012-RT

Don't ask why, because I don't know, but today while I was in the recovery part of my non election A$$ reaming (colonoscopy) I remembered I had never posted my final solution of this issue so. After much trouble and gnashing of teeth, I removed the side panel, disconnected the too short positive wires and the battery came right out. I installed the new battery test to see if it would start which it did, so I reinstalled the side cover. Most of the time was spent figuring out what to take out or loosen to remove side panel, once that was figured out it didn't take long to finish. I saw one video on the web that the person said it would take about 3 hours to do, but I think that now that I know how to get that panel off, I think it could be done in an hour or less. Any way all is well and thanks guys for all your help.:clap: While I was writing this I may have determined what made me think of this, I was thinking about not being allowed to ride until tomorrow, and the last time I wasn't able to ride was when all this happened.

Mine is doing same thing and I changed the battery and it still doing it

Are you sure your new battery was properly charged before it was installed? And have you checked the battery terminals are tight, as well as the other end of the ground cable?? :dontknow: . Even a new battery can have a poor connection, be a dud, or not get charged properly....
