• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey John

How is CPAC machine going????

Have u let the dog chew it up yet? :roflblack:

Starting to get used to it yet?:dontknow:

to be honest, i hate the CCRAP machine. i now am trying the nasal pillows and at least i am not getting the dry mouth i was getting. i am still waking up quite a bit at night, and the machine is saying i am doing great, but my best sleep is at around 5 am when i wake up and say enough of the machine and stop using it. i go back to sleep w/o it, and i feel that it is my best sleep for a couple of hours. thanks for asking

I hear tell that the dog is using it, and likes it. :dontknow::dontknow:

i didn't want it to make me sound like a wimp, but it makes me very nervous to wear and sleep with the machine. i hate it so much that i would even sleep with my ex again instead of the :cus: machine

John,
Sometimes; I think that I know exactly how you feel about this whole breathing issue...
I end up in my "easy chair" about a dozen times a year, when I get the uneasy feeling that I just can't breathe while lying in bed... :yikes:
Normally; it's a case of clogged sinuses that sets me off; but it's not limited to that scenario...
So I feel for ya; Bro!

Hang in there; you'll get it all sorted out!

Hang in there, Cuz. Another thing that helped me is an adjustable bed.

Take it serious

Cuznjohn,
you are not alone. But think about all complications from NOT using it.
It is not to stop snoring, but to stop your sleep apnea ( when you stop breathing and NO oxygen to your brain ( that is dam serious).
the more you use the better. Also TRY to use the humidifier attached to machine WITH chin strap ( will keep your mouth close and will not feel it dry).
lastly: there is small piece covering your nose and nostrils ( not mask), that is great and worth the money. Good luck

Think i need to do the test

BUT

How are you suppose to sleep with all them wires hook to you and in a strange sourrondings :dontknow:

How accurate :yikes:

ask a doctor about the home test, that is the one i used. very simple to do and the results are almost as good.

John, I have been using mine for over a year, and I still don't really like it. But, it has helped my sleep apnea. I do find the pillows to be more comfortable than the mask. In my case, the added bonus is that the missus doesn't kick me in the middle of the night anymore.

Cuz,

I have followed the discussion here and earlier with your regard to CPAP.

3 years ago after my wife complaining for 25+ years of my snoring I agreed to do a sleep study. It showed that I stopped breathing about 30 times an hour.

Now...please understand...I am SEVERELY claustrophobic and could not keep the mask on for more than 5 seconds before absolute panic set in and I would be done for that evening...I talked with my DME who suggested I take as much time as possible to get used to it. Her suggestion was to,desensitize myself by simply holding the mask in front of my face...then move it closer...then hold it on my face without putting the straps on...you get the idea.

After about 6 weeks I was good with the nasal pillows and pretty much good to go...now there are still nights where I get that panic feeling but I simply take off the mask until I settle down and then put it back on.

I was not one that noticed a change. It took about 6-8 months of constant use and then I began to realize that I was waking up and not napping during the day -- which I would do for 2-3 hours at a time.

Fast forward to now...I refuse to NOT use it. My wife is happy. Since April I have lost 45 pounds with 5 more to go but I still have SA and will have to use the machine. And I generally feel so much better.

Moral of the story...give it your best shot to stick with it. It will take time but at some point you will wake up and feel better.

Just my $.02.

I wish you the best!

John, I've been using nasal pillows and cpap/bipap/vpap machines for almost 19 years and they literally changed my life for the better. The headgear they have now is simple to use and relatively comfortable so it's well worth getting used to it.

If you don't mind my asking, what company are you using for equipment? Some are FAR better than others.

Cuz, I have observed that attitude has a lot to do with whether someone adapts well to a CPAP machine, or not. You might want to check yours. I started with the attitude that I didn't want to keep falling asleep in meetings at work and wanted to stop the snoring that kept the wife from getting a good night's sleep. I adjusted myself to wearing it and now have trouble sleeping without it.

i just took the mask off after a half hr, i felt i couldn't breath and was getting very angry. last tow nights i only used it 3 hrs a night

Once again, if you have not done so, please visit cpaptalk.com forum. You will find suggestions, encouragement, and answers there about CPAP like you find here about Spyders. You are not unusual at all with your struggles. Others have gone through exactly the same scenarios you are going through, and made it. As has been said attitude is vital. In fact that alone will make or break you. Stick with it. The end result will be worth a thousand times the struggle to get there.
