There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I think that an awful lot of "life's disasters" could be avoided with an adjustment to attitudes...
Had I been on that ship; once I figured out that it wasn't heading to the bottom, I'd have considered it to be like a camping trip!

A friend of mine had 5 of her cousins on that cruise ship. She was unable to go due to a work emergency......holy smokes!!! We can put people into space but can't get them off of a cruise ship???? Insanity
If they tried to get them off the ship at sea, It would have been a major disaster.!
Just this week 5 crew members on another ship were killed , Just Practicing an evacuation.
They were not in imminent danger... it was a nasty situation....but not life threatening.. but imagine trying to transfer 4000 people ship to ship at sea.... there would have been fatalities.... bad choice.
BTW I have worked offshore on vessels for some years. vessel to vessel transfers are not allowed, unless to a stable offshore platform, such as a stabilized rig, or in a dire life threatening situation.
as stated... it may not have been a great vacation, or a pleasant experience.... but that is a far sight better than the possible loss due to ship to ship transfers at sea. Sometimes, ya just have ta toughen up.... just sayin....nojoke

My Missus has taken a couple of Carnival Cruises over the years... she like them!
But she also said that they didn't hold a candle to her Disney Cruise...
:cus: happens... They wouldn't have put everybody on that ship if they had any idea that this was a serious possiblitity.

Bob, it's been reported they knew there was a problem with the engine system but wanted to wait until after the cruise to address it. They felt it wasn't serious enough to take the ship out of service. We're not much on cruises. Never been on one, just not an interest to us. I'm not a fan of being confined with a few thousand people for any length of time. However, the mechanical/engineering aspect of it does interest me

I love cruises! One of the best vacations you can have. Been on 5 cruises. Worst experience was staying at the Clarion Hotel near JFK airport after the cruise. They took our luggage out of the room while we were out, thinking we were there to board the cruise. The hotel takes the luggage to the lobby so you can hand carry to the bus for security reasons. We weren't there to claim the luggage so they stored it in the basement. I was fit to be tied. Any body who knows me will find that hard to believe. And I won't describe how my wife felt. The hotel room was unsafe also. Then the shuttle vans to the hotel both from the airport and from the ship? OMG!

You have no idea if you have never been on a cruise ship. Even the biggest one, oasis class ships which holds a little over 5000 guest is less than 300 people per floor on average. Now, that deck is over a 1000' long and over 200' wide. Spread 300 people over that deck and see if you can play catch. The only place that there are crowds are at diner. shows, casino, and at the pools slightly. A cruise ship is like a city, just stay away from Carnival and Norwegian.
