• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I ordered one but it is not here yet. When I have it installed, I will let you know. I know Nancy's Toy and Danimal both have the Throttlemeister and really like it. It was because of their recommendation that I ordered mine.

I have the Throttlemeister on my BMW, and just installed one on my wife's Spyder. In my opinion, they are great. I am used to throttle tensioning devices on my vintage motorcycles, however, so I am prejudiced. I do not like fighting the throttle all day, and need to rest my right hand periodically. Keep in mind that they are a throttle lock, or friction device, and keep a steady throttle setting, not necessarily a steady speed, if you are on hills or curves. You also have to get used to turning the throttle off when necessary, not just letting go. I have always done this, so no problem for me.

Installation took me about 15 minutes. Loosen the screws and remove the existing handlebar caps, roll back the throttle side handgrip and slip on the throttle friction ring, clean the inside of the handlebars, assemble and insert the Throttlemeister, adjust as instructed, tighten it down, test it, adjust if needed. When you are satisfied, remove the end cap and install Loctite on the screw, then tighten torque. Put the matching weight on the other side in the same manner, and you are off. Takes longer to talk about it than to do it.

Danimal posted this product number with price:
Here is the info from my invoice if anyone is interested in these:

Product ID: FH & AL-H $ 142.00

Black Finish $ 10.00

I didn't care about the black finish and thought the silver would look good on my silver Spyder but I also wanted the heavy so I ordered from www.i-bike.com and saved a few dollars. I tried to get it locally through a dealership here. I went to 3 different bike shops first. Non of them carried the Throttlemeister and really didn't know much about it either. So I went ahead and did an online search for the best deal. Directly through Throttlemeister has the most choices for your money though. I hope this helps you. By the way, mine has been shipped and should be here by Tuesday. I will post reviews after installation.

Just tell them it's for the Can-Am Spyder - they know about it. Also, they will probably ask you if you want the "heavy" or the "standard". The "heavy" is supposed to help eliminate vibration in the bars. Although I'm not sure about the effetiveness of this, I personally have always bought the "heavy" since it is bigger and matches the size of the bars better. Just a matter of personal preference.

The Throttlemeister has a color accent ring and it is usually shown in red. They now have colors, however. I got the yellow on my yellow Spyder and the color matches good. They probably have a black ring for the black and silver Spyder. I prefer the black finish - it looks better (IMOP) and it seems that the surface gives it more "friction".

The install is fairly easy. Since I've had Throttlemeisters on all of my bikes since 1993, I can install it now with my eyes closed! Take your time on the throttle side adjusting it and don't quit until you get it just right. You will want the throttle to move freely when it is not engaged. Follow the instructions and you should be OK. If not, call Throttlemeister - they are great to work with. Or, feel free to contact me. Although Throttlemeister will support you regardless of who you buy it from, with only one exception, I've purchased it directly from Throttlemeister because of easier communication and the better selection.

Since you engage the Throttlemeister by "rolling" it on and off, leather gloves seem to be the best since they offer good friction. Textile gloves are not real good but you can develop a "hands off" method which is effective - just not as fast. You can roll it on and off with your bare hands also but hopefully you will always wear gloves. Once you get the hang of rolling the throttlemeister on and off using the heel of your right hand, it will become second nature to you.
