• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cruise Control on the RT

Cruise control

I have owned my RT since Feb and used the cruise control for the first time today after reading this thread. I could get used to this on a long ryde it does allow my old arthritic hand to relax and engages and disengages very easily with no jerking or roughness overall kinda cool.:ani29:

Everybody who's ever ridden who started out BEFORE cruise was available on bikes invariably thinks cruise is a waste of money until they get a bike with it! Then, they are forever ruined. Just like someone's first M/C audio system or windshield..... You never knew you needed it until you have to give it up.

Cruise Control

Cruise was put on the RT for convenience to the rider. If you want to use it then used it; if you don't like it then turn it off. But, as for mileage it all depends on how you ride and at what speed you select. I use it every chance I get to keep my engines rev's at a level that I like to ride.

I will never go on a long trip w/o cruise control on my bike. First let me say that I have just purchased a ST Limited; I looked at the RT but liked the sportiness of the ST and if it didn't have cruise I would have opted for the RT. Every year in May I ride down to Florida from Philly to see family on my Harley Streetglide w/ cruise, I usually take I-81. 2 years ago I had the "brainstorm" to take my Ducati Diavel (Sport Tourer) down w/o cruise control. At about the 300 mile mark my right hand was killing me and by the time I stopped for the night I was eating Advil like Sweet Tarts.

:agree: On the open road there's no downside that I've been able to find and my right hand really appreciates the rest.

Ride safe,

What are the benefits of using the Cruise control on the RT? :ohyea:

I had cruise control on my 1800 Goldwing and really liked it....Then I sold the Wing & went with a VTX....REALLY missed the cruise...NOW I have cruise AGAIN !!! I don't use it a bunch, but it's there when I do need it!

Relax steady speed

Is there any notacable difference in milage when using it on long runs of open road?:ani29:

It can give you the chance to take a hand break while remaining at speed. It can give you a break in maintaining interval while cruising. Increases the chances of increasing your fuel economy.

i used mine yesterday while on the road got 44 MPG, :2thumbs: stayed at the posted speed limit. My riding mate did not use his, kept falling back, got 25 MPG and was as tired as I was. But he is 8 years younger.

cruise control

i find i get better mileage when i use my cruise control...remember cruise works on any gear in regards to speed ....ie 5 gear cruise wont engage under 45mph ...4th gear 40 to 45 mph ...3rd 35 to 40 mph...:2thumbs:
