Cruise Control on ST Manual

Hi guys,
I have a 2013 ST Spyder Manual with no cruise control but my son who sells them seems to think if we change the right hand switch assembly that the cruise function will work, as the display even says CRUISE OFF. Any idea if this is possible guys

I would guess it is possible, but there is much more to the system than that switch.

There should be a control module that holds/controls the speed, an actuator of some sort to release w a gear change and/or brake use. Etc, etc...

I would guess that the ECM is different also.

There is a reason they didn't add it, must be pretty involved. :dontknow:

Your son is 100% correct. All of the wiring and components are in place. There is even a thread on here where another member has modified their stock switch to make it all work. From what I was reading the switch is pricey. Good luck!

All the electronics are on the bike. You can modify the non cruise switch to make it work. Installing the right hand control that already has the switch will also work.
I modded my switch and it works perfect. All the safety features work. The only difference in a bike with cruise and without cruise is the plastic switch. There are no electronic parts in the plastic switch.

The black piece in my hand is the piece to mod. The white panel above it is the actual switch. All the electronics are under the silicon. There are three switches to run the cruise. The on off switch is left center. The set up/down speed are right center. The raised bumps around the outside of the panel are LEDs. If you remove the dummy switch from your non cruise unit, you will find all the lettering for the cruise already on the bike. It even lights up so you can read it at night.
Again, the only difference in a bike with cruise and without cruise is the black plastic piece shown in

Thank you for your response, I am going to have to do it now, as I am sick of the display that says cruise off. I do miss it as I use it in the car all the time. Switch block here in Australia $380 dealers buy price wow they don't miss you do they.

Hey Craniac,
If i buy the upgraded multifunction switch that includes the cruise control switch, is there a way you can just swap out the front panel with the switch rather than doing a full install of the unit as they quote 4 hours of strip down to plug in the new connector they have to remove the console and everything, if just the switch was swappable

Should work quite easy. Getting the switch apart is the hard part, and it is not that hard. Several small torx bit screws. Once the switch is out it should be a direct swap. It is the black piece in the pic. Only held in with three screws.

But what is it wired too and how hard to get to those connections.

I just did what your are asking about on my 2013 rs. I installed a right hand switch housing with the cruise switch (from an rs-s). Everything works perfectly. It only took about an hour to swap out the whole thing. Connections are easy to get to on the rs at least.
