There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Cruise Control Not working

My 2012 Rt SE5 has been running fine and is approaching 5000 miles. I tried the cruise control only once since I bought the bike. It seemed to work as expected about a month ago, but today when I turned it on NOTHING. No indication on the display at all. Just dead. Is this a common occurance ? Other than taking it back to the dealer is there anything I can check myself.
Thanks in advance for any hints.

Check your fuses first. I recently had to replace the cruise control switch on my 2010 RTS. 28,000 miles at the time. About $250 for the switch. Yours should be under warranty if you need to replace it.

The SEARCH feature provides a wealth of Information

Toward the top right hand side of every page on the SpyderLovers Forum, you'll see a white rectangular box with a small magnifying glass icon next to it, thats the search option or you can click right below that to be taken to the advanced search page. I typed in Cruise Control fuse & it brought up a bunch of pages full of threads with all those words in it. Yeah, you have to do some reading, but you can find just about anything you need there. I didn't know the cruise was controlled by the CanBus & not really by a fused circuit. I learn something new here every day;) Good luck:thumbup:

I actually had the same problem on the loaner bike I was driving. Turned out that the brake was ever so slightly on...I would lift the brake with my toe and cruise would then engage. Might not be your issue but thought I should mention it.

When I first bought my 2011 RT-AC, the first 300 miles or so, the cruise wouldn't always come on the first time. It straightened itself out during my trip from St Louis to Florida and I've never had a problem with it since.

Here are some more possibilities:

Make sure the cruise is actually turned on, before engaging. The switch may have gotten pushed to the left, shutting it off.
Remember that you also have to engage it by pushing down on the button, after it is turned on. Don't hold the button down, push and release.
The rpm must be above 3500 or something like that, for the cruise to set. There may be a minimum speed, too.
As was said, the brake must be off. Be sure your foot isn't touching the brake pedal at all.
The clutch switch on an SM must also be disengaged. Some have become bent or stuck. (Doesn't apply to your SE.)

You may have double checked all these things. If so, and it still doesn't work, see your dealer.

Mine has done this same thing.

The cruise control on my Spyder refused to turn on a few time until I noticed that I to make sure the switch was all the way to the right, some time I've had to nudge again after turning it on.

After splitting the throttle switch housing and spraying the cruise control switch as best I could with electronic contact cleaner I now see that when I slide the switch to the right I can see the cruise on indicated on the digital display. Taking it out on the road and turning on the cruise gives me the on indicator, but when I slide down to set the speed I get either an off indication or a split second set then back to off. It just won't stay in the set mode. Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order. This is a minor annoyance because I seldom use cruise control. I just figure that if you pay 28k for a bike the bells and whistles should work when ever you need them.:sour:

Took a ride today and just for giggles tried to use the cruise control even though in my mind I was sure it didn't work. Pushed the switch to on and got the digital on indicator. Pushed the switch down to set speed around 50mph and the readout went to off. Out of frustration I switched off then back on, but this time instead of pressing for a second I just flicked the switch with my thumb and the cruise set and held speed. I repeated that procedure at least 10 time and every time it worked. I guess I just have a quirky switch. Go figure
