Cruise Control ~ need guidance on attaching servo cable to throttle pulley

Your photos helped a ton. How and to what did you anchor your cable? I am attempting to find or make a different cale loop attachment as the one I was sent does appear to be too long. Again, thanks for your assistance. It is very much appreciated.

I believe this is what you were asking me. I had to remove the throttle linkage and drill it and then attach the "gizmo" that came with the kit. i then attached the end of servo cable to this with no bead chains in between. If you drill the throttle linkage make sure you drill close to the edge to give the "gizmo" room to move up and down so it doesn't bind up.

Ray, thanks for your response. I made a custom cable loop and popped the plastic arm off and put the loop there. The original loop was too long.
What I was inquiring about was where and how you anchored the end of the cruise control cable from the cruise control unit, so when you set your cruise control, the cable doesn't move. Thanks again.

Okay got you...because of the location (throttle linkage) where I mounted the bead chain connector, I ran the servo cable inside of the plastic block that holds the throttle and return cables and secured it with zip ties. Initially I had only 1 zip tie but because of the pulling of the servo cable when engaged, the black sleeve for the servo cable would creep on me and it was cracking open the throttle body giving me a high idle at rest. I added a second zip tie (sorry no picture) and criss crossed around the servo cable and secured it to where it was forcing the cable towards the throttle body. I've been trouble free since adding the second zip tie.

Ensure that you insert a little play in the servo cable when you do your final anchoring.

Ray, thanks for the pictures. Finally got it installed. What switch settings did you use. When I set my cruise, I need to let my speed drop about 5 mph before the control engages. Is this normal?
Also, if I set it at about 45mph it surges quite badly, but anything above that is ok.
My switch settings are #1,2 3, = on, #4,5,6,7, = off, #8,9, =on, #10,11,12, = off.
I'm wondering about switch 11, I have the SE 5, but is it considered an automatic, or manual.

I did notice the same as in your situation, the bike will surge when the speed is set lower than around 50 MPH. This works out fine because the cruise is only used when cruising at speeds of 55 - 65 mph.

I haven't noticed the speed dropping 5 mph before it engages. When set at speeds above 50, it stays at the set speed with no fluctuations. It could be that the #11 dip switch setting needs to be set to "on" or maybe your trying to engage at to low of a speed.

But when engaging the cruise control at any speed, it would immediately accelerate 3 or 4 mph over the set speed then settle down to the speed set. So I changed the #9 switch to off, changing the engine/setup timer to 6 cylinder low. Now when I engage the cruise control it immediately holds it where it is set and holds it there at any speed. Very smooth. Now ready for my trip to Durango.
