• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Credit card skimmer

I've got a better idea: Make them eat the skimmer! Just break it up with a hammer, and let them know that dinner is being served!
When they pass it: they get to go home! nojoke

That is why chip readers are finally making there way into our daily life. Even with a skimmer on a POS, terminal they still need to see you enter your pin for debit. Credit cards are a little different. They can capture what ever is on the stripe. Credit card transactions, you as a consumer have some recourse. Debit card (purchase) not so much. There is a card reader out in the real world now that can not be skimmed. Oh this card reader you insert the card in sideways and the rear head actually moves, not the card. That's my two cents. Mag stripe readers on gas pumps and point of sale terminals need to go away. The skimmers do not work on the chip readers.

"how do they stop this"? well how about mandatory minimum sentences starting at 20 years or charge anyone involved under the rico act for organized crime & STOP GIVING COMPUTERS TO THE DAMN INMATES!! make criminals afraid of doing the crime.
at my place, my machine is behind the counter & i chip or swipe all, no pins, chips are best.

VERY SCARY HOW EASY THEY DO THIS!!

Notice that video is about the magnetic strip. Chip and pin is much harder to scam. Most of the world is chip and pin. Have been for years. In Canada there are a few pumps in small towns with magnetic stripe readers and some car washes too. Even if they get your credit card number and you make a fake card. It will not work in a store that wants chip and pin. Going into the US I find it really creepy when a clerk want me to hand them my card. Then if they want to do something out of my sight. No way. If they are able to take a picture of the front and back of your card then they can make online purchases. Sooner you folks go fully to chip and pin the better.

Skimmer Scanner

After being stung last year by one of these low-lifes with a skimmer, I installed an Android App called "Skimmer Scanner". Before I insert my card, it scans for the BT signal that most of these skimmers use. It may not catch all models of these skimmers, but at least it may catch some.

I have probably used it a couple dozen times so far - no hits yet - and no stolen card info yet (at least not used yet).
It only takes a few seconds to run so I think its worth the time to do it.

You can use skimmers with chip readers for the moment. If the chip reader fails enough times it will just let you swipe the card. I had this happen to me at one store that didn't like the chip on my card. It was a large chain store not a mom and pop place either.
Eventually once everyone goes to chip cards that will go away. That's still a few years out though. More and more places are using the chip now, but not many are chip and pin at this point.
