• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Crazy weather in Anchorage this weekend

ARtraveler

R.I.P. Dwayne
After having the coldest, snowiest, November in years--we got a real change this weekend.

A storm came in from the South Pacific, (a chinook) bringing high winds, high temperatures, and lots of rain.

Prior to this weekend, the temps have been floating around zero to 10 for the last couple weeks. I had a couple feet of snow on the ground.

With the rain, most of my snow melted, and the driveway is down to the rock base. No, I wont be bringing :spyder2: out for a winter ride though. The melt off freezes to solid ice--so the side roads are like ice skating rinks. Not a good situation for driving the :spyder2:.

Last night, we experienced temps in the 40's and it reached the 50's in some parts of our area today. We had winds all night gusting up to 118 miles per hour. The whole house shook when the high winds were blowing. I was fortunate, there were some tree limbs down all over my yard--but no other damage to my home. We are now at freezing again--so it will be an icy commute tomorrow.

There were reports of lots of wind damage in parts of Anchorage where people have decided to build their homes on the side, or near the top of the mountains.

I hope that you guys are okay...
I'm gonna have to start watching "Deadliest Catch" re-runs in order to remind me of how fickle the weather can get in your neighborhood!

Just think of the great gas mileage you could get going downwind in a Spyder with a 118 mph tailwind! roflmao

Things are better today--occasional gusts of wind--but not the steady, dangerous stuff. Its 28 above this morning--so I will be commuting into Anchorage on the "iceway". I am waiting an extra hour before going in so that I can avoid the heavy commute traffic and drive in the daylight. 8:30 AM and still pitch black--another 1 1/2 hours before the daylight comes---Ahhhhhhhhhh--winter in Alaska.
