• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Crazy Idea

What would y'all think of this idea? Start a forum for "Can Am dealer reviews" kinda like Amazon where members could rate dealers one to 5 stars and make comments. Perhaps rate them 1 to 5 stars for each category of Sales, service, Parts, etc. No anonymous reviews allowed. The rules could be finalized later, but whaddya think of the idea and feasability?

Assuming the software could handle something like this. Perhaps a show stopper, but with the collective brainpower that resides here, we can overcome!nojoke

 This might not be something that we should do... It might turn into a dealer-bashing bloodbath; do we really want to cause that? Now; I've had issues with a dealer, and I made it pretty clear that I wasn't happy... But I kept their name out of here, and they eventually made things right. Please think about this one a little bit more before we "Let slip; the dogs of War"...

you could use it as a good dealer posting site, so people would know what dealers are highly thought of in their given geographic area. have to agree with bob on it possibly turning into a bashing site, if you post bad stuff too!

I agree with Bob, this could get ugly real fast. I think it would be better to fire off a well thought out email, with as much of the emotion removed as possible to BRP when you receive substandard service. Also when a dealer goes above and beyond send off an email to BRP. If you have the option vote with your feet and go to another dealer. Here in SW Ontario I am surrounded by BRP dealers and many of them are very good. BRP in their wisdom has picked very few dealers to sell and service Spyders. This puts many customers in a difficult position to change dealers. The dealers that they picked are the highly promotional ones and it appears very little merit was given to their ability for after sales support.

I am going to agree with others in avoiding such a thread.

These things get out of hand fast and serve no one in the end.

If someone has a question about a dealer, they can post the question and typically get enough responses to help make a decision on who they should go to... and who to avoid.

Just my two-cents...

This idea was tossed around before in a thread about two or three years ago. The consensus then was it is a bad idea.
I agreed then and I agree now.

:agree: Please don't get discouraged over any of it... ANY idea is worth bringing up just to see if anybody else might have a take on it that hasn't been brought up yet!

I am also going to agree with the others. Information about bad dealers pops up from time to time and usually get handled on a case by case basis.

There was a thread that was posted about recommended dealers. Dealers were listed by state and I thought that was helpful in giving people ideas about where to go for service or sales. I have not seen anyone add to that thread for a long time.

The problem with a specific "bad dealer" thread allows for one person who has an axe to grind with one dealer--to flame them before they have a chance to fix or handle an issue. Its easy to damage someones reputation, but not easy to undo.

Both good dealers and bad dealers pop up in the threads on an ongoing basis. Its pretty easy to figure out after you have been on the site for a while.

Considering only bad news travels fast on forums it would really highlight a few bad events with a dealer rather many good things. What may be good to do is award a Spderlovers "Silver Star" for heroic deeds performed by a dealer above and beyond the call of duty, so to speak. This would require the spyderlover who had their problem resolved to submit a write-up via PM to a group of moderator judges (maybe the BRP 5) who would determine if the actions are worthy. The award would then be presented via a thread in a special section. After a while it would be obvious who the really great dealers are and other dealers may try harder to rise to the level where they may also be awarded. Peer pressure is always the best motivator.

So it gets reviewed first by a panel, and then posted; FAN-DANG-TASTIC idea!
:2thumbs: Now all we need is a panel of responsible and reasonable adults... :roflblack: Woody, your basic premise DID have merit; it just needed a little tweaking to be more workable... :firstplace: :bowdown:

JUST AS A SIDE NOTE: If you really have a problem with a Dealer, be SURE to file your complaint with the BBB. Always check with them BEFORE you decide to change from another Dealer. Just say'n...........:doorag:

Wow so the consensus is it might be overly critical of dealers? Boo hoo. They are in business and we all the know Spyder salesman are a lot stronger than Spyder service. I see no reason that a forum for Spyder Owners cannot have a section for the positives and negatives of the most important part of the our ownership experience. Lately this forum is not much else than the feel good marketing of all things Spyders. And clearly we give Len all the love no matter what his location. Surely there are other dealers in this vast country that deserve some too.

On a positive note.

Lets only put a recommendation of your 5 star rated dealer Hume you would personally recommend. Let they reader figure out the dark side. If a dealer is not on the list buyer beware.

my 2$.:chat:

I encourage new buyers to post where they live and ask for recommendations of good or bad dealers. These responses can be handled through PMs.
