• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Corrosion Issues or Not

Have just become the proud owner of RT Limited after 21 years on BMW tourers it's heartening to see there are not dozens of posts relating to corrosion issues. BMW seem very prone to them. Are there any problem areas or are they properly built in the first place. Mine for sure is very impressive.

100%

i'm not 100% certain, but i'm thinking that all/most non-engine parts are powder-coated...
i've had a SPYD3R since 2009, and have not heard of even 1 issue with corrosion....
thanx for join'n the club.... enjoy yourself, and ride safely....

Thats just what I wanted to hear. Thanks.

Not much....

I do ryde a lot of coast line and have some rusting on the front end cast parts but not more than you would expect for a salty ocean side ryde. Easily cleaned up, this after 5 years of ryding....

As long as you don't try to overfill the brake fluid reservoirs, and end up giving the frame a bath in that corrosive crap: yo should be okay.

I have not had a single :spyder: that has shown any signs of rust or corrosion. And I do drive in late fall/early spring where the bike gets pretty grungy from stuff. My keepers (the RT's) have all been over three or more winters.

My 2012 RT has had issues with the fuse/relay panel corroding. The panel is at the right front tire and the seal design was terrible on that model not sure about others. In 30000 miles, I have had the entire panel and front wiring harness replaced twice because of it.
