There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My understanding is that sanitizing (ie; bleach, alcohol) is the most effective way to kill viruses. I know this works because I haven't had the Flu for more than 30 years (true) and I very rarely get a cold (also true). And I never get a Flue Shot. I "sanitize" myself with a couple shots of alcohol (Rum) in the evening. I choose rum because I don't like the taste of bleach or the effects of drinking bleach (death?). :joke:
Seriously. I think it is good to be prepared and I keep a good stock of food and water on hand. Easily 2-3 weeks worth but now I will increase that. Good thoughts about preparation. Thanks Mike..... Jim

The mosquito transmitting viruses, may be responsible for killing the greatest number of people around the world. So like canamjhb, will keep myself sanitized with rum also. I'm not taking any unnecessary chances. I'll go down fighting this pandemic to the very last 5th that i can get my hands on.

I saw an interesting article where the writer made the connection of the treatment regiment for the Spanish Flu apparently may have been the cause of a lot of the death associated with it. Treatment at the time was (allegedly) mass dosing aspirin, which caused blood toxicity (?). I'm seeing so much misinformation about this new one that I don't know who to believe. I know it's misinformation because half are running around with their hair on fire while the other half are saying it's a non-event. The truth is somewhere in between. I've working in bad locations all my adult life, including West Africa with Ebola and all the other nasty stuff, as well as Hurricane Central in the Gulf of Mexico, so prepping is second nature. Clean hands, distance yourself, run away from anyone who looks ill or is hacking, distance is your friend where most emergencies/disasters are concerned. Being prepared isn't hard, do it gradually over time. A clean water supply, food, medicines, that's all standard stuff. You'd be surprised how many people miss medications, important documents, etc. for bug out purposes. This is going to be different than bug out from a hurricane, I don't think the grid will go down, nor the water shut off. More of a hunker down and weather it out if it really gets crazy.

I think you should always have some canned or dried food in case something goes wrong. Some bottled water as well. Some disasters come without much warning. Just makes sense to me. I saw on the news today Costco was running out of some items. Hand sanitizer, toilet paper, facial tissue and spam where some of the items mentioned.
The issue as I see it with the Covid19 virus. If too many folks get it at the same time. Medical resources could be overwhelmed. So try to not catch it, for as long as possible. So that means staying home if or when it starts spreading in your area. Until them live like you normally would.

It is obviously the cause, Troop, as a recent US survey of around 1000 people showed that one third of them would not buy Corona due to fears about the “disease”. That’s not having a shot at Americans, as that is probably a global average. Corona beer sales are taking a real hit, and that is a frightening indictment on human gullibility

We just bought a house in Tennessee and we are going to have our banking set up to do absolutely the maximum amount of online bill paying that is possible. We have started washing our hands just like we were taught way, way back in grade school; wash with plenty of soap for at least 20 seconds and to clean between, as well as the tips, of our fingers. We'll be stocked up on food and other necessities to allow a month long absence of contact with others, if needed.
One other thing that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is this. If my wife and I are out in public and either one of us were to notice someone who is obviously sick, we are to let the other know immediately, in no uncertain terms! If we come across as rude, so be it! It's nothing personal and we won't intentionally hurt your feelings, but our health and safety comes first! I wear hearing aids and sometimes go without them, so I told my wife to not be subtle in getting the point across to me!
One more thing. If we happen to meet when we are out riding, don't be offended if I don't shake your hand. I will gladly give you a friendly elbow bump in lieu of shaking hands, though!
If you have Amazon Prime and are curious to see how a story line could unfold with a reasonable level of accuracy, I recommend watching a two part show called Pandemic. The only thing I felt really strained credulity was the lack of Federal involvement, but then again, you never know!

And to prove your point; a number of years ago when gas prices here in the US started going through the roof, someone started a rumor that shortages of commodities would follow. The idea was that truckers would refuse to haul toilet paper in protest of the rise in diesel prices. It was just a hoax threat but toilet paper was in short supply for a couple of weeks because of the public panic by people hording toiled paper.

So using that logic. I had a gas leak in my house. I had it fixed. So that was big waste of money because my house did not blow up!!
Just because a lot of people put in a lot of work to get the problem fixed. Does not mean the problem was not real.
