• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Corbin Smugglers trunk

So, for those that have the trunk, how do you like it? How much did it cost to ship it? How much stuff can you fit in it? I'm debating getting it, rather expensive so I'm wondering if it is worth the money.

If you ride solo it's a great addition. I love mine for all the little stuff I like to carry.

Not terribly practical if you carry passengers often, but it looks great if you're primarily a solo rider. It doesn't hold nearly as much as the Corbin trunk though and you need a front Corbin saddle as well to go with it. So you have to figure that cost in too.

Correct me if I am wrong about this.

cool

I've already got the corbin seat, and most people I know hate being on the back so in that aspect it will work. I just wondered the size of it on the inside. On the website it says something about liters, but I don't think in liters unfortunately so it means nothing to me.

One correction that needed to be made.
It comes with a back rest pad that needs to be enlarged. Took it to a upholstery shop and 20 dollars later its perfect.
You have enough room to pack for cross country rides.

I think I heard that it holds a laptop case and odds and ends like gloves, liners, and other little stuff but not much of anything else. I love the way it looks but for us it's not practical, we ride two-up a lot, and the trunk holds so much more.

I put my cell phone, camera, gloves, earbuds, cards, snacks, meds, flashlight, small tools, and a bunch of small stuff like that. Works great for me.

a trip?

Hello gene,
Almost sounds like you are going to be going on a trip. :D
I hope you and your wife had a nice Christmas. Where you going on that trip and are you taking the banner?

:agree:Need the hard bags and why don't you get the top case instead as it holds a full face helmet has a great back-rest for your passenger and boy does it look sweeeeeeet !!! Not that much more than the Smugglers trunk .

Well, I think it will work for what I want

I pack light, but I need the front trunk for my backpack on longer rides. The smugglers trunk looks sweet, so I was hoping it would just hold my tools and the roadside emergency kit items I'm putting together, which it sounds like it will do. I don't need all the other trunks and stuff, so it looks like once I get my taxes back I'll be getting the smugglers trunk. If I end up finding I need more space I think I'll just get some easily removable soft saddle bags as I want to keep the bike as sleek, and "stock like" as possible other than paint and lights. I was told it would cost like $100 just to ship the smugglers trunk, is that true? I can't get Corbin to answer, I've asked a couple times. I've even added the item in my cart to see, but that didn't work either!

Do you have pictures of the mod you made to the back rest pad?

ISCI Billy is a Corbin Dealer. Why not ask him about shipping? ... and color matching ..... and a forum discount......

Smuggler

Yep! I'd like to see how your Smuggler backrest was modified. The present backrest on the Trunk is the one thing that has held me back. I have a Corbin seat at present with the standard oval backrest and doubt I could go far without it or an equivalent.

I can't figure out why Corbin doesn't offer that possibility. Will the oval backrest NOT fit when the Smuggler is installed?

i ordered the givi and other stuff from isci last week. The smuggler however does look the coolest.

be sure to post some pics when you put your smuggler on please.:doorag:

I wondered that myself

I can't figure out why they didn't put a place on the smugglers trunk where you could put the backrest. I'm hoping they can match my spyder, I have a phantom kit on,but if it is glossy black that will work too. I didn't know anything about getting a forum discount...darn!!

Will post pictures when I get it on, but from my understanding it takes some time to get it once you place an order.

Hey Amanda
I just saw your request----how about tomorrow morning after sunrise----get some shots in the (sun) maybe.
Corbin is outstanding in all their products. You will enjoy your decision for years to come.

Hey Cool machine---yepper a trip down route 66 is planned for May. So far my good friend TrickyDick and another guy.
Looking forward to meeting allot of spyderlovers along the way.

It may be hard to see but the back rest has 2 inches added to it. Originally it was 1 1/2 thick-----maybe someone can measure the OE for you. If the pictures do not come thru send me an email and I will put them on a attachment
