There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Corbin seats vs Ultimate seats who wins?

Questions

New member
Hello fellow Spyder riders,

Although I have been reading the post here for quite sometime I just officially joined the forum. Last July I purchased a 2012 Pearl White RT Limited and put every piece of chrome on it you can get. I am in the process of doing more modes to my Spyder but I have a question I would like to ask and hopefully gain some insight. My sister has been bitten by the Spyder bug and we will be purchasing a 2013 RT Limited this week. Last year I purchased a Corbin seat for mine but I noticed several of you have Ultimate seats. I will be getting her a new seat and I am not sure if I should get another Corbin or try the Ultimate. I love my Corbin but if the Ultimate is better I will get her that on. I realize this may be a biased question like Chevy vs Ford or Leather vs Vinyl. Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for all your time and concern in this matter!

The best one is the one that fits her best. There are tons on this forum who love Corbin's, while others find them uncomfortable. The same holds true for any other brand. You may have to find other Spyders with the different seats and have her try them.

Ultimate seat that is. Love the feel and looks to longer days the the outhers out their by far.give them a call them and will work with on your seat and if not right return to them money back. So cool get one...

I haven't used a Corbin, but love my Ultimate.

Something I noticed at SpyderFest is the difference in the rain covers for the two brands. The Ultimate seat's rain cover is fitted to the seat. From what I saw of the Corbins the covers have elastic on the edges, but are loose.

They make rain covers :dontknow:

Have your sister sit on your Corbin and see if she likes it. If not sit on the ultimate seat. Hopefully there will be one in your area. Everyone is different, maybe she will want to ryde for awhile before she wants to upgrade.

:welcome:

RE Corbin vs. Ultimate: I have had Corbins on two :spyder2:'s. Never tried the Ultimate. Might be good if you can find someone with an Ultimate and hopefully get a test sit.

You know what you have with the Corbin.

Let us know what you end up doing.

It's going to have to come down to her... bottom :opps: making the decision...
Let us know which one she likes better. Happy Shopping!! :2thumbs:

The thing with corbins: 1) for best confort you should go to the factory and have them shape the seat for your posterior. then.. 2) give it a good 3000 miles for both the seat and your butt to break in and get accustomed to each other.
I have a corbin, this is what I did, and after 9000 miles, I really like it.
That said, I did have a recent opportunity to sit on a russell day-long seat... and I must say the softness and comfort of that has me seriously considering getting another seat with them It was like sitting in a recliner.

Wow, I just looked up their website and their seat does look like a recliner I like recliners. :D

Corbin lets you keep your original seat...Ultimate has a $250 core charge...from what I've been told. Their fuel doors are ugly compared to Corbin's.

I have a Corbin on my GS and I will be getting another for the new :spyder2: .

14 Day Test Ride

Keep in mind that we offer a 14 extended test ride for our seats. Once the seat is delivered she'll have 14 days to make sure that she (and her backside) are happy. If not, send it back and you'd only be out the cost of freight!

Also- the RT does not require the $250 core. That charge is only for the RS/ST models.

Ride safe~

P.S. - Because of our solid piece memory foam design, our seats (and your butt) don't require a "break-in period." You'll experience comfort and support from mile 1.

Thanks for that information!
And I'm already stacking up my penny's in preparation for calling you guys when I can't see over the pile anymore! :D

Any seat you buy will change as you put miles on it. The Corbin may not feel that great at first, but as it gets broken in it will feel great... and remain feeling great from then on. I had almost 60,000 miles on my first Spyder with Corbin and it was a fantastic choice.

For my RT I also went with the Corbin. Briefly looked at other brands, but just didn't like the look or feel. The gas door on the Corbin looks like it belongs. The other brands (not sure who does them) that have gas doors look like they were take off an old muscle car or something.... just fugly.

One small complaint on the Corbin for RT. DO NOT try and raise or lower the seat with the gas door closed! It will scratch your Spyder. I did this by mistake. Their seat props also are not the greatest.... but other than that....love the Corbin. I also got the matching backrest and just got the extended arm rests. It all looks like it belongs.
