Corbin Seat on an RT

Anyone out there changed thier stock seat on the RT for a Corbin Custom? I'm tall at 6'4" so the angle of the bend in my knee is a little uncomfortable on longer rydes. (I've had my ryde for a year so I've had plenty of time to adjust to the position.) Since I'm planning some long rydes this summer I talked with the good folks at Corbin. They tell me they can make adjustments to my ryding position with a new seat. I live within an easy ryde of the factory and in fact I've been there several times over the years.

Corbin seats aren't free ($900 for the seat and back rest plus tax!) so before I make the investment I'm hoping you all can give me some feedback. I appreciate your responses.

I'm also 6'4" & have long legs - the Corbin with the Lamonster cut is the best seat I've found, but you have to have somewhere else to put your feet - scuff guards, highway pegs, or some other option - I have a friend who actually puts his feet on the front suspension on the freeway - that DOES work, but is a long scramble for the brake in an emergency.

Corbin

I've had my Corbin RT seat on for a week and a half. Mahhh-velous. It sounds like you'll be doing a drive-in appointment and installation. I installed mine myself, and conveyed my height, weight, inseam and even taped my butt. Seat fits well. Love the backrest, although you have to toy with which lockdown/angle screw you'll use to adjust its position. Noting the price you quoted (seat and backrest) ... are you not getting the trunk rest? It adds another $299, but it sure finishes the Spyder off nice. Also, it's shaped to the geometry of the main Corbin seat, to optimize seating space for your passenger.

Here's my thread on installation and results (with an embedded link to pics).

I'm also 6'4" and got the Lamont Cut and the seat feels real good. Here's a picture.

There are many who have the Corbin seat and are very happy. I am one of the others that went to a custom seat maker and had one made just for me. My seat was $500 and made me feel very comfortable. By the way, I am 6'6" and the comfort on my knees not being bent wrong is worth every penny. You should also look at Seal Floorboards as they allow you to reposition your feet on long rydes.

Just a thought,

I'm 6'2" and 250 but I find the seat very comfortable? I have real long legs too! With the prices you guys are paying for custom seats would not just the available extended foot pegs cost lots less and work just as good? Bill

:agree: We have had our seat for about a year now. Johnnyg is 6'2" and he loves it. As the passenger for most of the time I'll take the corbin seat with the back back rest over the stock any day. Our longest ride in one day was 606 miles and it was a piece of cake. Nothing like the stock seat and back rest. As far as the front part of the seat it didn't fit me as well but I'm only 5'4". I kept sliding forward. and you can't beat the gas door that they put in for the conveince of getting gas. CJ PS We didn't do any custom cut on ours it was just the regular cut.

Ordered the Corbin seat last week with Truck pad and backrest.

I am wondering if I made a mistake in specifying the "Lamonster cut" as I am 5'6" with a 28" inseam? I like the cut will lower me, but now concerned about reach to the handle bars.

Tried emailing Sergio, but so far no responce.

I did provide hieght, weight and inseam when ordering.

Being in Canada and real busy at work going to the factyory is not a possibility.

Any advice and opinions?

Thanks,

SteveO

Have had my Corbin seat since the first 500 miles on my RTS--I insalled a Utopia backrest at first--but just did not like the stock seat--I also had a Corbin on my 2008 GS.

I now have 15K miles on the Corbin on the RTS--and liking it even more. I also have the Corbin backrest because I like support for my back when riding.

They are pricey--but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Bob D--you know you want one! Don't you have some special occasion or specific need--that will cause you to bite the bullet--instead of suffering every time someone buys one.

We feel your pain! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Corbin Seat

I have Corbin Seat on my SPYDER and love it. I am 5'9" or so, which is pretty tall for a woman, and the seat is very comfortable.
I also have floorboards and cruiser boards made by ISCI. These really help when I need to stretch my legs or change position when I ryde.

The issue is not just the leg room but also the position relative to leg bend and arm extention. Knees higher than hips, feet behind the knees, basically all squished up. I can almost drive from the passinger seat.

Agree with leg issues on my RT. 6'5" tall here and knees up high, the angle of knee bend and feet behind knees gets painful after a while.

That is why I am currently Spyderless! I took my seat off last Friday and shipped it to KonTour seats, where it currently is being modified along with adding their cool mesh covering. I am having them raise the seat height and move the driver area back a few inches, which after testing with some temporary padding, etc.. seems should really help my issues.

Should have seat back in about a week to week and half more and after I test I will post some pictures and my opinions.

Crossing my fingers it helps as much as I think it will.

Thank you one and all for your feedback. It was very helpful. I have an appointment at Corbin for Wednesday of next week. Now all I have to do is decide on the material and the pattern of my new seat. I will post pics when completed.

Thanks again.

I'm 6'4 and have an all leather Corbin seat with drivers backrest for sale for $600.00 plus shipping. Spider web stitch in Partner Gray. 2000 miles on it and like new.
