• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Corbin Seat mod

I talked with Chance at Corbin today to see if he had any pointers about removing the heating pad from the foam. He said take your time and cut it out with a razor blade. I was hoping he had a better trick but so such luck. :(

He asked why and I told him that with the trunk on the back and the risers I find myself sliding forward all the time now. He said when they designed the seat it was made for a stock Spyder and if you lean forward like stock it's not a problem. I would agree with him on that but now I sit more upright with the risers and I need to sit in the seat more instead of on top of it.

After reading a few post here I decided to take a shot at it today. I got it how I like it now I just need to recover it. I'm going to take it to a shop and have them do it, I'm afraid I might mess up the glue part.:helpsmilie:

Here's how it looked before I cut it down. As you can see it's a little high in the back. I called my buddy Des from Ultimate Seats to see what he did to make his seats work so well. He said to drop the back about an inch lower than the flat side and that's what I did. :doorag:

Next thing to do is drill out all the 1/8" rivets.

Now the cover is off but I had to remove the heating pad.

This was a very slow process but I got it.

All done.

See how high it is in the back.

This is what it looks like after I carved it down.

I'll post some picks when it's put back together. :doorag:

I assume you figured out that a die grinder with a sanding disk works just dandy for "dishing" it out? A turkey carving knife works well for major surgery.

Took my first ride with it yesterday and I love it. No more sliding forward and I can now use the backrest that's built into the trunk. :doorag:

The heat works the same as before, it's a pad on top.

That pic was right after I got it back. Now that it's been in the sun and I've say on it for a while it's nice and flat. It is glued down. They charged me $35.00 to put it back together. :doorag:

Awesome job! :2thumbs:

My wife complains of having the same sliding problem with her seat.
I may just work up the courage to try the same on hers.

Thanks

Got it back? Where did you take it and why? Thanks.
This is where I took it.

I had them glue it up and rivet back together for me after I got it cut down the way I liked it.

After putting some miles on it I really do love it now. I find that I don't think about the seating now unless I take a turn I'm use to and realize I didn't have to readjust my butt like I normally would. It was well worth the effort for me. :doorag:
